The Blue Ridge Parkway Is Reopening!

The Blue Ridge Parkway Is Reopening!

The High Country's section of the Blue Ridge Parkway is open!

Hey there, road trippers, mountain lovers, and weekend wanderers! We've got BIG news from the High Country: the legendary Blue Ridge Parkway has reopened the stretch of road from MP 280.9-317.5, which runs between Boone to Linville, and we hear it calling your name. If you've been craving fresh mountain air, jaw-dropping views, and the kind of peaceful escape that only the Blue Ridge Mountains can deliver, now's the perfect time to plan your getaway.

And guess what? We've got the coziest vacation rentals waiting for you right here in Boone, your basecamp for Blue Ridge Parkway adventures.

What Makes This Stretch of the Parkway So Special?

The Boone area is home to some of the most scenic and serene stretches of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Think:

  • Iconic overlooks (hello, Thunder Hill and Rough Ridge!)

  • Peaceful hikes through wildflower-dotted meadows and ancient forests

  • Charming picnic spots, photo ops, and the occasional deer sighting

  • That unbeatable feeling of the wind in your hair as you cruise around mountain curves

Take it from one of our General Managers who holds a 469 Mile Award from having driven the entire Blue Ridge Parkway: the stretch between Boone and Linville is hands-down the most scenic part!

Whether you're a leaf-peeper in the fall, a wildflower chaser in spring, trying to beat summer heat off the mountain, or just here for a relaxing ride with breathtaking views, there's something for everyone. (Pro tip? If there's a rain storm moving across the valley near Lenoir and Morganton, you can often get a front-row seat up on the Parkway just north of the world famous Linn Cove Viaduct!)

What's Happening Around The Area?

With our stretch of the Parkway open, The High Country is buzzing again!

  • Visit Moses Cone Manor for mountain views, easy hikes, and local art

  • Stop at Price Lake for canoeing or a peaceful hike

  • Explore Boone's farmer's markets, local breweries, and shops

  • Visit iconic Grandfather Mountain and Tweetsie Railroad

  • Catch live music on a patio while sipping Appalachian craft cider

The Parkway is Open. The Mountains are Calling. Are You Coming?

For more information about the Blue Ridge Parkway, including to check real-time travel conditions and road closures, please check the National Park Service's dedicated website about the Parkway. You can see a real-time list of closed and open sections at this link, as well. If you're not familiar with the Parkway's mile marker system, it starts at 0.0 in northern Virginia and goes to MP 469.1 at Cherokee, NC. (A fun tip to help with navigating around our area: you can remember that Blowing Rock is at MP 295, which is the same three digits as the telephone exchange for Blowing Rock numbers!)
