We stayed in this cabin for a special family getaway and to celebrate Thanksgiving 2025. The cabin is spacious, lovely and cozy. The beds are comfortable. The living room and kitchen are large. My kids enjoyed the hot tub. The views from the back porch are amazing. The river is beautiful, but we couldn't enjoy it because it was freezing cold during our stay. We hope to return during the summer to enjoy the river. The cabin is basically close to everything: Blowing Rock, Boone, and Grandfather Mountain, etc. It's a great location. Our favorite restaurant was "Mexican Rock," and it is located in Blowing Rock. Thank you for having us; we had a wonderful time. -Mendozas.

The cabin was a bit dark. Very thick dust under the downstairs bed but management came and cleaned it right away. (We didn't want our dog getting into that.) Would recommend new living room couch. I truly enjoyed my 5 stay at A River Runs Through It. The cabin was all that I had hoped for. It was nicely furnished and had all the amenities you needed to make your stay pleasant. One concern that I had initially, was knowing that it was a pet friendly cabin, but I can honestly say that there was no way you would know that a pet had been there. I chose A River Runs Through It because it provided me with an opportunity to fish, but even if fishing wasn't your thing, just being able to sit on the back porch and watch and listen to the river was worth the stay. One thing I really appreciated was the attentiveness of the staff at Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals. I was literally contacted on a daily basis to see if I was enjoying my stay and if there was anything they could do for me. They also made the check-in and check-out process very easy. As an 80 year old man with a bad back, my one suggestion would be to have a grab bar installed in the downstairs shower. In summary, if you are looking for a beautiful cabin with a beautiful view of the Watauga River, a feeling of solitude, but with easy access to town, A River Runs Through It is hard to beat.

My Husband and I rented a cabin for our 15 year anniversary it was a beautiful cabin “A River Runs Through It” we enjoyed our first two days there. We watched the presidential inauguration and the Buckeys win the Championship cozy by the fire! GO BUCKS! After the game we realized the pipes froze upstairs and the water came pouring into the kitchen just a few hours later. The ladies with BMR were angels! They had us in another cabin (Trillium) just as perfect as the first cabin within 2 hours. We were so relieved with the quick responses and fast transitioning to finish our trip. The Manager came out to the cabin at 1030pm to check on us. She was so sweet and helpful. Before we eventually left to head home (3 days later) we realized they refunded some money for our troubles and they explained the homeowner was very thankful we jumped into action and shut the well pump off so there would be no further damage to the cabin. All in all we will always use Blue Mountain Rentals for all of our trips! Absolutely wonderful customer service and hospitality!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We throughly enjoyed our time in this cabin. The location was easy to get to and 4x4 was not needed on our trip. There are plenty of dishes and kitchen gadgets to cook and prep meals. Location is close to Boone, Banner Elk, West Jefferson, Blowing Rock and ski area at Sugar and Beech.

Amazing views, well kept home with a well stocked kitchen. The outdoor gas grill was appreciated. Plenty of room!
They need to do a little cob web removal inside but other than that it was clean.
It was a great weekend even with a little rain.
Owners may want to look in to the bees that have burrowed through the walls from the deck in back but it didn’t bother us. The hot tub was a great addition and was clean and ready to use! Would love to return for another weekend sometime.

Wonderful stay! The Watauga River was roaring and quite beautiful! It made for a very peaceful experience. I spent a lot of time on the back porch watching and listening to the roaring river! Would definitely stay again. Wish i had brought my fly rod. It was very convenient to Boone. The only surprise was the added $200.00/night fee for renting during “ski season”. It wasn’t until the final step of reserving the house that that extra fee was apparent to me.

We thoroughly enjoyed this cabin. Having the River right outside the back door (actually down a few steps) was amazing. Our kids could have stayed in there all day. It was so appealing that they were in the River WHILE IT WAS SNOWING! The only thing worth mentioning is, the cabin has a wood burning fireplace. We loved it. But if you don’t like that wood burning smell, and it is not a time of year where you can open the windows, you might want to consider that. We had a great time and we plan to return!

We thoroughly enjoyed this cabin. Having the River right outside the back door (actually down a few steps) was amazing. Our kids could have stayed in there all day. It was so appealing that they were in the River WHILE IT WAS SNOWING! The only thing worth mentioning is, the cabin has a wood burning fireplace. We loved it. But if you don’t like that wood burning smell, and it is not a time of year where you can open the windows, you might want to consider that. We had a great time and we plan to return!

It was great. The ONLY thing of issue was there was no ice - the ice maker in the fridge is apprarently broken. No bigger, though...IT WAS GREAT. I'll rent it again in the summer.

AMAZING!! The location is to die for. Boys caught 2 rainbow trout in river off front deck within 2 hours of checking in. Close to everything! Clean, well stocked, huge hot tub, great fire pit. Excellent response time from housekeeping when we identified we needed more towels! Can't say enough great things about this place. We will be back!

We were only visiting for 2 nights and I do wish it were longer, this place was amazing. Just off the beaten path and right on the river, which provided our nightly symphony. Comfortable beds, extremely clean but nicely appointed cabin located just outside of Boone. I do wish the checkout time were a tad later, but cant complain one bit about this stay.

Two king bedrooms, one up and one down made it ideal for two couples. The cabin is a short ways down a dirt road and right on the Watuaga River very convenient to Boone, Valle Crucis and skiing. It has a well stocked kitchen and was very comfortable.

We enjoyed our stay in "A river runs through it" very much. The cabin was roomy and very clean. Beds were very comfortable. My husband enjoyed fishing and caught 2 large trout. That made the trip for him! Our two german shepherds loved the Watauga, as well as I did. We would definitely enjoy staying there again. We didn't have much luck finding a place to have dinner in Boone. That led us to try Blowing Rock, which we absolutely loved! Our favorites were Six Pence Pub and Mellow Mushroom. Both welcomed us and our dogs. There are some other places we didn't get to try this visit, but plan to next time.

Roomy cabin with great views. The deck was wonderful for reading, relaxing and thinking. Our pets love it! You can walk down to the babbling brook, soak your feet and skip rocks.

This was my husband and I's second time staying here and we brought our 12 year old son who had an absolute blast and is talking about when we are going back! =) This is truly our home away from home, and we have found our own drop of paradise hidden in the woods and backing up to the Watauga River. We arrived Friday afternoon and our son Colton was over the moon with excitement because he got the whole upstairs to himself, which includes a state of the art Air Hockey table that we played on a lot and had a great time. He had a TV in his bedroom and a full bath to himself, little man couldn't be happier.
You can walk right outside on the back porch and have total privacy while you walk to the hot tub, which is definitely one of our favorite things to do any time during the day. Colton's face when he saw that he had a hot tub was priceless, so full of excitement.
Downstairs you have everything you need, and my husband cooked almost every meal, which made it feel even more like being at home. We grilled steaks one night on the back porch, and sat outside watching the River as the sun was coming down. True Serenity.
Saturday we walked out to the River and jumped from rock to rock, making it a good ways down, and made a friend with a goose who stuck close the whole trip. Colton and the Goose, was so fun to watch. Later on that day we ventured into town and did some shopping, and also went rock mining and found some beautiful stones. Fun for the whole family.
I can't say enough great things about this Cabin and how much privacy you have.
We are already talking about our next trip to a River Runs Through It. So grateful that I came across this property on line and I don't have to look any further when I'm going to the NC Mountains. This is our special place that we can enjoy year after year and continue to make wonderful memories.

Kent provides firewood, which was a nice touch and the cabin is spotless and has everything you need. We cooked most meals in the cabin and it is truly now our home away from home. We are planning our next trip where we can bring our son and fur baby and we can't wait.
The pictures can't do this cabin justice. It backs up to the Watuga, and the soothing sounds from the river put you right at ease. One day we decided to walk out on the river, it was incredible and the views are out of this world.
One of our favorite things to do was relax in the hot tub, which is right outside and beautiful. My husband and I looked at each other and said, “We've got to get one of these.”

Thank you for a wonderful week! This is our 3rd visit here. We lived here 35 yrs ago and can’t wait to come back and retire. Our favorite things was Roan Mtn & Carvers Gap hike is a must. The last day we hiked Beacon Heights Overlook on the parkway mile post 305.2 Short and easy hike with fabulous views. My husband fished and caught a Huge trout although it got away! We visited all of the craft breweries in Boone, Banner Elk, Beech Mountain, . Thank you for sharing these hidden paradise. We Will Be Back!

Thank you for a wonderful week! This is our 3rd visit here. We lived here 35 yrs ago and can’t wait to come back and retire. Our favorite things was Roan Mtn & Carvers Gap hike is a must. The last day we hiked Beacon Heights Overlook on the parkway mile post 305.2 Short and easy hike with fabulous views. My husband fished and caught a Huge trout although it got away! We visited all of the craft breweries in Boone, Banner Elk, Beech Mountain, . Thank you for sharing these hidden paradise. We Will Be Back!

We really enjoyed your cabin. It was perfect for our family of 3. Very cozy and comfortable. Thanks for all the little extras that make it feel homey! The weather was cool and rainy but perfect for some lazy down time which we really needed. Look forwarded to returning.

The cabin and location were ideal for our visit to the Boone/Blowing Rock area! The charming cabin was in excellent condition and very spacious for 4 adults. We loved the sound and perfect view of the river! Will definitely stay here again :)

Thank you for providing us with a beautiful home & gorgeous landscape! We loved our visit and even put together a 550 piece puzzle due to rainy weather. We hope to come back in the fall some year. Great hiking! We love it here!!

We could not be happier with our stay at A River Runs Through It. This was a very quick decision weekend for our family and somehow lucked our with this home being available. Our fur baby thoroughly enjoyed herself too because it's the first time she's been on a vacation with us. We can't wait to return over the next 4 years since our child will be attending college in Boone! So excited. Thanks very much!

The cabin was perfect and we wish we could have stayed longer! We loved that we were steps from the river! The hot tub was a major bonus! It was home away from home. Now, if only it was our home!! We will definitely be coming back!

This was our 3rd visit to River Runs Through It located on the GORGEOUS Watauga River. My husband and I along with our 2 four legged family members had an amazing experience for the 18 days that we stayed. We can honestly say that this cabin now feels like home away from home. We are both realtors from Tampa, Fl and have experienced many vacation rentals and homes that do not compare to this cozy, well built, fully stocked cabin. From the minute you get here you have everything you need. The owner takes a special interest in your needs and makes sure that he is available if you have any questions or need assistance on where to go or how to catch a fish. For those nesting cabin days that you just don't want to go anywhere you even have all the upgraded cable channels to watch plenty of movies and escape the world. The location could not be better if you want to check out the town. You can get to so many beautiful places in less than 20- 30 minutes. We highly recommend this cabin and plan on coming back every year.

This cabin is a trout fisherman's paradise! The trout fishing was fantastic and I was able to land the largest trout I have ever caught. We visit the mountains a couple of times a year to fly fish for trout and we usually have to spend half of our vacation time driving to a fishing spot. It was so nice to have such great fishing in our backyard! The cabin is very comfortable and private and just a short easy drive to great restaurants and shopping. We hope to return soon.

Outstanding in every way! We stayed four nights in this cabin right at the start of fishing season. WOW ! It doesn't get much better than this, this is our 4 time staying here, Great Cabin, Great people to deal with, they make it so easy, and the fishing was very good this time, a Great place to spend our anniversary!

We stayed at A River Runs Thru It and it was GREAT !!! very nice cabin and clean and neat, good fishing and just had a great time, the folks at Blue Ridge Rentals are great so nice and just makes everything easy...I have stayed at a lot of places and they are no better folks ANYWHERE !! Not sure I can even put in to words how wonderful our stay was at a River Runs Through It! The cabin was absolutely perfect and we felt at home the minute we walked in the door. It was very private and secluded! No hidden surprises when we drove up or walked in! If you dream of a perfect spot to escape the craziness of life and feel relaxed from your head to your toes... just walk into to"A River Runs Through It"!!
