This cabin was perfect for our annual spring break trip. It met all of our requirements: high up in the mountain for beautiful mountain views, lots of windows, indoor fireplace for keeping warm and roasting marshmallows, pet friendly, log cabin feel, full kitchen, and a washer/dryer. We were snowed in the first 2 days (probably our choice-we are Floridians who don't know how to drive in the snow). We felt like we were in a snow globe and loved playing in the snow. During our trip, we went to Grandfather Mountain (a must!), Linville Falls, Blowing Rock, Otter Falls, and the Alpine Mountain Coaster. This cabin is great for staying in and catching up on rest and relaxation as well as a great place to wind down after a day of exploring.

We absolutely loved our stay! The mountain view from the cabin was stunning. It was incredible being able to wake up everyday and look right outside our huge window at the gorgeous view. The cabin was also super convenient with only a 6-7 minute drive down to the main street, and a Lowe’s Foods only a few minutes from there. The kitchen was pretty well stocked with pots, pans, and everything we needed to cook meals. Our dog adored hanging out on the porch (we did too!), and the gas fireplace was so cozy and easy to use at the click of a button. The cabin is about 30 minutes from Blowing Rock and lots of great hiking spots, which made it the perfect little getaway for us. It was just my husband and me this trip, and we would 100% stay here again!

We had a great time. The cabin had everything we needed with the most beautiful view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The communication was also great when I had questions. It was quiet, cozy, gorgeous and peaceful. We will be back next year to hopefully stay longer.

The cabin was lovely with absolutely stunning views, especially at sunrise. When we arrived it was very cold and we couldn't get the fireplace pilot light to ignite. I called and left a message and the very next morning a repairman arrived and fixed it and showed us how to operate it. Pretty impressive! A couple of suggestions for improvement: we cooked quite a bit and the frying pans need to be replaced, they are very scratched. Another level up to be considered would be better paper towels and 2 ply toilet paper. Also, and this is purely for better aesthetics, the wood plank floors make for a great rustic vibe, but are in great need of resurfacing, clearly many visitors have been careless with their suitcases. The drive up the mountain to the cabin takes 6 to 7 minutes and is super steep, a 4 wheel drive is a must. All in all our experience was terrific!

If you’re looking for an authentic mountain cabin experience, this is the place for you! We loved the views and the property was well maintained. Quiet little neighborhood on Grandfather with plenty of privacy, and we saw many deer and a few wild turkeys. Bathrooms were clean, and the house was well stocked with cleaning supplies, kitchen items, and laundry supplies. Great for if you plan on coming with a larger group and need to make meals at the house.When we first arrived had an error getting our door code to work, and Angie at the Blue Ridge Rentals main office was very kind and helped us get a working code right away over the phone, and even texted after to make sure we were OK. Only critique is that some of the couches/chairs in the home are pre-loved and have seen better days— Could maybe use some TLC or a re-upholstering. But I guess that adds to the rustic cabin feel, right? Would definitely book again

Cabin and views were amazing! The cabin was well stocked for what we needed except groceries of course but the store was only 20mins away. Very private as well and great communication with rental property and instructions. Cabin was clean and spa is well maintained. Was very nice that they provided separate towels for jacuzzi. Will definitely be back and use this rental company if we decide to try other cabins!

We truly enjoyed our stay at Apple of my Eye! Our experience from beginning to end was amazing. Upon arrival, our teen son's first word upon seeing the cabin was "sweet." Nailed it! However, our top takeaways: -- The mountain vista off the deck was remarkable. -- The private and secluded location provided a nice respite which helped us and our four legged family member to relax. -- The home was spacious and well appointed. We had an amazing time while staying at Apple of My Eye! The view of Grandfather Mountain was something we absolutely enjoyed each morning as we sat and drank our coffee. The home was clean and the sleeping set up was perfect for the 5 of us. We loved that there were 2 family areas (one on the main floor and one on the lower level) that allowed us to either sit and chat or play games at the game table - both while enjoying a cozy fire in the gas log fireplaces. The close proximity to all downtown areas - Banner Elk, Boone & Blowing Rock also afforded us the opportunity to do some window shopping and exploring. Although we did not have plans to ski or snow tube this trip, Apple of My Eye would have been the perfect home base for either of these activities as well due to its excellent location. Everyone we spoke to at Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals was very polite and helpful. We will definitely be booking again.

Outstanding property. Amazing views. Clean, well furnished. Convenient location. Loved spending evenings in the hot tub watching the sunset. Check out Grandfather's Vineyard right down the road. Mile high swinging bridge, Linville Falls and Gorge are stunning. Boone Fork Trail is a workout! Check out the numerous breweries too - Moonshine was a favorite. Will return.

We had a lovely visit. The view was better than expected and even though you feel away from everything you’re only a 10-15 minute drive down the mountain to all kinds of activities and dining options. We had no trouble getting there in a sedan during the warm months although you will see why they require 4x4 or chains in the winter. We have stayed at three cabins in the last year and this is the first one that I would book again. Perfect space for our small family to have peace and quiet although enough room for two small families if you’re close. 10/10.

What a wonderful little cabin! The views were incredible and the location for what we wanted was perfect. It was VERY high up in the mountain and absolutely requires a car with 4 wheel drive and/or chains in the winter. We visited in early January and had snow 2 out of the 5 days we were there. Around the house there was snow that was at least 2 feet deep. Being so high up was wonderful because the snow doesn't really melt. It takes about 10 minutes to get fully down the mountain from the house, about 5 minutes longer if it was snowing or the road wasn't freshly cleared. There were only a few neighbors around and none of them looked to be occupied. There was so much land to walk around, hike and of course snow sledding (which the property had 3 for us which was such a wonderful added bonus). The cabin has pretty much everything you could ask for including a great 3rd level lounge area with so many books, games, fireplace and a card table. The kitchen is large/spacious and has a gas oven/stove. The fireplaces in the cabin are all gas, which was nice being not too familiar with lighting a real fire and having to worry about getting dry wood. The only non-wonderful comment that I can make on the cabin is that the upstairs rooms are a little small and the bathroom upstairs is a little dated, neither of these would prevent me from booking this cabin again. Both rooms had comfortable beds and clean linens. I cannot recommend this cabin enough for a smaller family or even two couples. Our family agreed based on this visit that an annual trip is a must and we will absolutely be back!

The best family vacation we have taken yet. The kids loved snowboarding at sugar mtn and tubing at hawks nest. My husband and I couldn’t get enough of the beautiful cabin views accompanied by the relaxing hot tub. Peaceful, relaxing, beautiful and just perfection all around. Apple of my eye We had a blast here. Great views and the house was amazing. We love to cook and the kitchen was stocked with everything including very nice pots and pans , dishes and mugs. The beds were extremely comfortable and bathrooms clean and spacious. Check in was a snap and the hot tub was amazing. Will definitely stay here again.

This location is secluded enough that you feel like the only people on the mountain. We enjoy the views from the large windows as well as from the hot tub on the deck. We originally picked Apple of My Eye in 2016 after a Florida vacation fell through due to a lack of a dog sitter and we have since decided to make this an annual tradition. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need, minus your groceries. The dogs absolutely love all of the hikes along the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway. If you're going on vacation to get away from everything, this is the place! Hike all morning and relax all afternoon...

This house is roomy, well decorated, and comfortable with great views. At first we were hesitant to rent because of the lack of reviews, but it is well maintained and managed. There was an issue with the hot tub but Blue Ridge Rentals was out right away.

WE had so much fun and love Apple of My Eye and plan to return in the near future. My children love this place because there are a lot of board games and the jacuzzi, while my husband loves the books too! I love all you provides especially because I can bring my 4 legged kids too!
