We want all of our guests to have a safe, happy, and FUN Fourth of July with us!
According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), more fires are reported on a typical Independence Day than any other day of the year. That's scary stuff! And you know what? Fireworks cause at least half of those fires.
In the interest of helping our guests enjoy the safest possible Fourth of July experience while staying, the Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals team would like to offer the following advice and recommendations to our valued guests.
Sparklers are okay, but hot or burning sparklers should not be placed on any surface of the property including outside tables and chairs. Children should never use sparklers unattended. Please be sure sparklers are fully extinguished with water before throwing in the trash.
It's also very important to remember that sound travels very far in these mountains, thanks to our beautiful hilly geography. The hills and valleys amplify sounds and cause the sound waves to travel significantly further over a narrowed distance than they would in a more spread out, flatter terrain area. That's why it's key to be be a good neighbor who is mindful of noises and the impact they might have on those around you!
Did you know?
Fireworks that leave the ground, known as Aerial Fireworks, are ILLEGAL in all of North Carolina unless put on by a licensed pyrotechnics professional. We recommend leaving the fun sparkly shows to the professionals!!
Don't forget about man's best friend!
Remember, dogs are far more sensitive to loud noises and vibrations than humans are, so fireworks are very frightening to them!
Please keep your dogs inside the home, rather than in the yard or taking them to a fireworks show. We don't want them getting scared and running away! All animals near fireworks can suffer from damage to hearing, anxiety, seizures, disorientation, displacement, and abandonment.
While dogs are inside, please keep them crated and block scary outside sounds & sights by lowering the blinds and turning on a tv or music. Dogs may scratch the doorframe if left inside a room, so they must be crated if you leave them inside your rental while out enjoying the festivities.
No matter where you go or how you choose to celebrate Independence Day, we hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful time! Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals is proud to be your first choice for a memorable vacation home in the High Country of North Carolina.
