Pros: The cabin was very clean. It is very private. The back of the cabin is a tranquil creek with plenty of rocks to climb and enjoy. There's also rocking chairs on the porch to sit and enjoy the view. It is between Boone, Beech Mountain, and very close to Banner Elk. The property is remote but it is in close proximity to all areas worth visiting in the area. I would recommend this property for a long, private stay/getaway. Cons: We couldn't add the DirecTV app to the TV without entering a pin to watch college football. We had to stream on our phones. This would not be a problem for anyone looking for a getaway without football. The jacuzzi tub in the bathroom wouldn't work so this was a bummer. There is a jacuzzi hot tub on the lower deck by the creek though. All around great property.

My husband and I stayed 4 nights and it was a very relaxing trip. The cabin was just the right size and had a stocked kitchen, card games, smart tv for a movie night, and the hot tub was great. Our only snafu was with check in, the door code in my email didnt work. I had screenshotted it ahead of time since I knew I wouldnt have signal so it took some walking up the hill to get enough signal to call the assistance number. After that, smooth sailing though!

Stay was near perfect. The house was comfortable, outside was beautiful and there are many resources- grill, jacuzzi, streaming on TV, and a nice fireplace. Great place if you’re looking for peace and quiet. The only problem we had was the check in process, the check in code we were given didn’t work, but was a minor problem and was easily fixed with a phone call.

Check-in process was a little off. We were locked out of the cabin in the freezing weather and snow while we called the office and waited for a new code. Other than that the trip was perfect. The cabin was clean and cozy. The view was gorgeous and not far from towns, restaurants, and things to do, but quiet enough and private. The mountain views were so nice everytime drove somewhere. Very nice, romantic cabin and would definitely like to come back next year!

This was the ideal cabin for an anniversary trip. It was very cozy and secluded enough to feel like we weren't surrounded by activity. The accommodations were just right. The kitchen had plenty of things in it for the meals we enjoyed there. The bed was comfortable, and everything was clean. I wish we could transport the rushing creek and moderate temperatures home with us. While it was about a ten to twelve-minute drive to get into downtown Banner Elk, the scenery was so nice that I never tired of it. I would certainly return to the Yearling.

Went for our yearly vacation with my fiancé, and had a wonderful time. Although a little far from shopping and food (30+ minutes), the peacefulness and beautiful scenery more than made up for it. One of the best B&B kitchens we've had, two days we did not leave the cabin and were able to cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner without hesitation. To top it all off, we were able to see snow two days of the week we were there. Highly recommend sitting in the hot tub while watching the snow fall.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. We needed a place to unwind and relax and this was just right. The cabin was very clean and very well equipped. Everything you might need - groceries, restaurants etc. are within a 20 minute drive. it was quiet and so peaceful. We enjoyed seeing deer and turkey on the property. would definitely rent again if coming to the area. This is our second time renting from Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals and are very happy with them. They respond to any inquiries quickly and work in a friendly and professional manner.

Very private property, gorgeous cabin, still close to everything Banner Elk has to offer. The rebtal agency was very responsive and quick to come out when we had an issue with the shower. It was hot for 2-3mins then ice cold for 2-3 mins and then hot again for a couple minutes. The rest of the cabin was as expected or better than expected. We really enjoyed the hot tub and secluded feeling. Listening to the stream behind the cabin was very relaxing as well. The management company does need to update their hours of operation online. We attempted to get to them first thing in the morning to check out and discovered they didn’t open for another hour.

This was a beautiful very secluded cabin. All the “creature comforts” were there for those who like them but we didn’t bother to turn on the TV or radio. The cabin was spectacular. I would plan to have most meals there and bring in food although Banner Elk is a short drive away.

This was a last minute getaway and the only problem we had was that it was too short. The cabin was spotless. I have worked for several different cabin rental places and they always have those silk flowers and plants around for decoration. They ALWAYS are a housekeepers worst nightmare and covered in dust and cobwebs. There wasn't any. Its the end of summer, there are ALWAYS cobwebs on the porches. There wasn't one. Even with the storms that have been coming through the area, there wasn't even a leaf on any of the decks when we arrived. Would I have minded if I found any of these things? Not even a little bit, but the fact that there wasn't any, shows how good they maintain and take care of their properties. The cabin itself had a wonderful layout, it was small and cozy, but had enough space that you weren't on top of each other. It was truly a wonderful getaway and I hope we get to come back here again.

This was an amazing three day weekend spent in Banner Elk. The cabin was nestled perfectly in the woods by a stream that was magical. The cabin itself was flawless and there was nothing we didn’t find unacceptable. Impeccably decorated and yet not over the top. There were a few bear sightings that made walking a little stressed but they didn’t bother us. We felt so relaxed and the hot tub was Devine! We couldn’t have asked for a better spot and quite honestly will most likely book there again! We would highly recommend this cabin for a get away!

We have rented here and there, but have never found a place in the mountains that was cleaner or felt more like home. Large shower. Double bowl sink. Whirlpool tub. Nicely appointed carpets and towels. This cabin is even nicer than the pictures. Turkeys came to visit every morning. Creek is very pretty. We will be back!

Just as pictured on the internet. Beautiful stream in back yard. It sounded very relaxing. Rained a few days while we were there so we enjoyed the inside of the cabin. Wild turkeys were around the property but they didn't bother us. There was a deer also. Was really hoping to see a bear. Highly recommend this cabin if you are looking for rest and relaxation in a beautiful setting.

Wonderful and serene place for a getaway. Very clean! As many have stated, get your groceries before heading to the cabin. It’s a little drive to town, but it’s also so nice at the cabin you don’t want to go anywhere. The only recommendation I have is that it would be nice to leave the keys in a lock box at the cabin instead of having to drop them back off at the office.

We loved this cabin! The kitchen was stocked with absolutely everything needed. The king size bed was one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in and the large bathroom was great. The fireplace was inoperable due to a past guest who ruined it a couple weeks ago, and while we really wished we could have had a cozy fire during our three day weekend, we will look forward to that when we come back next winter! Thankfully the hot tub was in perfect working condition, and we used it every day we were there. Thank you for the instructions for the tv and the candles, though the candles on the mantle were in need of new batteries and we were not able to use them since none were supplied. I would suggest having some back up batteries. The three candles on the coffee table all worked thankfully, and that helped make it cozy with the lack of fireplace. We really enjoyed watching the turkeys in the snow every morning. We will definitely be back soon! Susan and Joe

This was a charming rustic log cabin, easy to enter and unload. It had everything in equipment you would like in it and comfortable too. The creek in back, hot tub was fun, large bedroom, king size bed, large bathroom and a warm fire to watch. Good communication With the agent.

This cabin was perfect! It felt incredibly secluded while still being pretty close to nearby sites. Communication with the property manager was great. While the fireplace is out of commission for wood fires, they provided plenty of starter logs which worked out just fine. I definitely recommend the area and the cabin.

During these crazy and stressful times we needed to get away and relax, This is just as advertised ! We enjoyed the piece and quiet, the amenities are very nice, and if you want seclusion this is the spot. Cabin was extremely clean on check in and immediately made me feel comfortable. Only small downside is the fireplace has some issues and you can only burn fire logs and not real wood. I would highly recommend!

Cabin we rented initially something was wrong so they put us up at another cabin which was beautiful. It snowed when we got here the first day. Then was nice weather. And a front come through last night and it's been snowing since. Glad I brought a 4x4 because the road is frozen over right now

The Yearling is a perfect little getaway cabin! We enjoyed relaxing by the fireplace, and soaking in the hot tub. The sound of the nearby stream is very relaxing as well. We went the short drive into Boone for the day and really enjoyed the shopping and walking up and down King St. Overall, a wonderful weekend! We would definitely like to stay again one day!

A beautiful, off the beaten path drive up to a private cabin, right on the bank of a creek with a small waterfall right behind the cabin. The cabin is properly equipped for a married couple to get away from the outside world for a while. But it's a short drive to town for some excellent dining. The facilities are up to date and well maintained. We fully enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back during warmer weather and sleep with the windows to hear the waterfall.

We had such a relaxing stay at The Yearling! It was just what we needed for a romantic and refreshing weekend. We wish we could have stayed longer than 2 nights. The creek and hot tub were so nice and peaceful. The only recommendation we would have would be curtains or blinds on the street-facing window and door. We would probably bring some next time. Everything else was absolutely perfect! We look forward to staying again as soon as we can.

Our stay was AMAZING. The cabin was perfect size for the two of us. We enjoyed the hot tub and large indoor tub, deff helped us relax after hiking all day. The kitchen had everything we needed and the grill was a nice touch. The fireplace made the cabin super cozy and we loved waking up each morning the the sound of the creek in the backyard. This vacation will be one for the books and we will absolute be coming back to stay in the Yearling.

My husband and I came here for a weekend getaway. With 3 small kids, that's not something that happens often! Despite the weather not being ideal, we loved our time here. We had everything we needed and loved having the stream in our backyard. Comfy, cozy, with plenty of privacy. We would definitely stay again!

We loved our stay at The Yearling Cabin! The creek and waterfall were a relaxing accompaniment to the hot tub. We are regular visitors to the area and we were very happy with the location of this cabin. We love to visit Banner Elk, The Mast General Store and Banner Elk Winery found all of our favorite stops were easy to get to from this home base. We will definitely stay here again.

We just loved this cozy cabin! It was just what we were looking for. During our stay we had an ice storm, & it was so beautiful. We enjoyed taking walks & seeing all the beautiful nature the waterfalls & the fauna The hot tub was perfect, after walking! I would really love to see the springtime, as we missed the foliage & the trees were bare The cabin was fully equipped & I would definitely come back

There is not enough space to write about the wonderful stay we experienced here. Granted, it was our honeymoon so we walked in with rose colored glasses, but the cabin is splendid. The location is remote enough to feel like you are the only people in the world, yet only a 15 min drive from local civilization. The hot tub is parked by a babbling brook that sounds and looks beautiful. There are more ameneties than we could count, and everything feels like home. The only minor downsides, may just be personal preference. The bed is a bit on the hard side. After 4 days or so, we were looking forward to getting home to somethig a bit softer. There are no curtains in the living room, kitchen, breakfast nook. While the scenery is beautiful, the exposed feeling, with no option for privacy, was a bit intimidating for my wife, who feels safer in a cozy bunker, than a "greenhouse of glass." These things are very minor downsides, and are easily solved. We loved this cabin and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We will absolutely be back again in the future.

We knew what to expect. Our own little paradise. Except for a minor issue with the inside jet tub our stay was perfect. A nice weekend getaway from the heat of Charlotte. We'll be planning a third stay sometime in the near future.

Great experience overall! The property owner even allowed us to bring our 2 young children and we had a great time just running around the woods that surrounded the cabin and throwing rocks into the creek. We were hoping for some snow but since that didn’t happen we drove about a half hour into a nearby town and went snow tubing at hawksnest and had a great time. The cabin itself was nice and clean and had everything we needed. The whole process for picking up keys and returning them was super simple too, even with us arriving late at night. Great experience overall and would recommend this cabin to others!

We stayed at the Yearling for our 25th Anniversary and enjoyed every second! The cabin was clean, the kitchen was well stocked and the grill was ready to go! The cabin is very cozy and romantic, with all of the details you would want for a secluded get away. From the fireplace which you can see from the bedroom,, to the hot tub, jacuzzi bath, and sound system/tv/dvd, everything was perfect!! The creek behind the cabin and the snow falling all around was just the cherry on top! The booking process was easy and the we can't wait to return!!

I'm writing this review (almost a year later) because we're looking at another cabin to rent for a few says for our 1 year anniversary! We love the mountains and I just happened to run across this cabin where we honeymooned. I saw it had 4.5 stars and wanted to know what person scored this a low rating. And it seems it was almost 2 months after our stay! I can't imagine in 2 moths this beautiful place could just basically fall apart. I just wanted to say that rating (dated Nov 2013) is NOT accurate and those people are VERY picky- my husband and I didn't we didn't to leave it was so beautiful and there is a Creek I'm the back yard. we loved it and we also read many memories in the booklets for guests to share. We loveeeeed our stay here and so would you!

We just came home from a very relaxing weekend at this cabin. Talk about a much needed break! We were looking for something that would allow us to completely escape from the craziness of our daily life, and this is just what the doctor ordered. Very secluded, very romantic, and looked exactly like the pictures. It was spotlessly clean, and they provide virtually everything you need. We went in to Banner Elk (it's about a 15 min drive) each night for dinner, and did some hiking in the area. I highly recommend this to any couple looking for a romantic weekend to reconnect!

My wife and I stayed here back in Oct. 2008 for our Honeymoon and it was perfect. Very quiet and secluded...very romantic as well, that hot tub is great on crisp fall evenings. We took in a few of the local holiday festivals and nearby shopping. We also got to enjoy some of the nearby parks, like Grandfather Mt. and Blowing Rock. But we were both so very pleased at the end of the day to return to this little paradise. We WILL be back...and I can't wait.
