Description
Welcome to Rotten Dog Getaway, a comfortable, dog-friendly Sugar Mountain condo named in honor of the homeowner’s beloved dog, Hunter, who, as the story goes, is spoiled absolutely rotten. Around here, we think mountain vacations should include the four-legged members of the family, too! A photo of the eponymous spoiled rotten Hunter is included in the photo slideshow.
Inside, warm wood accents and an open floor plan give the condo a cozy mountain feel while still providing plenty of space to settle in and make yourself at home. The living room is an inviting spot to kick back after a day on the mountain, with comfortable seating, a TV, and a gas fireplace that's especially welcome on chilly Sugar Mountain evenings.
The open kitchen makes it easy to cook while still being part of the conversation. Stainless steel appliances, ample counter space, and a large breakfast bar provide everything you need for morning pancakes, après-ski snacks, or a relaxed dinner at home. And when the weather cooperates, take your meal outside—the covered deck offers an outdoor dining area with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and Sugar Mountain Golf Course.
Two comfortable bedrooms provide a restful place to recharge, while the updated main bathroom features a spacious tiled walk-in shower and heated flooring for an extra-cozy touch during the colder months. You'll also find board games and a Wii for some old-fashioned family competition when you're ready for an evening in.
But don't spend all your time indoors! The covered deck is one of the best spots at Rotten Dog Getaway, with room to sit, dine, sip your morning coffee, and simply enjoy the mountain scenery. In warmer months, watch the green fairways below and soak up the fresh mountain air. When winter arrives, you'll be right in the heart of one of the High Country's favorite snow destinations.
Sugar Mountain offers something to do in every season, from skiing and snowboarding in winter to golf, tennis, hiking, and mountain biking when the weather warms up. Banner Elk and the surrounding High Country are also within easy reach for restaurants, shopping, wineries, gem mining, rafting, ziplining, and plenty more.
Whether you're planning snowy days on the slopes, a cool summer escape, a fall foliage weekend, or simply a few days away with your favorite people and your own spoiled-rotten dog, Rotten Dog Getaway is ready to welcome the whole family.
Hunter wouldn't dream of vacationing without his people. Why should your dog have to?
