Red Stag Lodge is a spectacular, luxury mountain home in a private setting in the Lodges at Eagles Nest, one of the most desirable and awe-inspiring communities in the mountains of North Carolina. Breathtaking westward sunset views peak through the trees in the winter, overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains and Pisgah National Forest await you. Ensconced by lavish trees and beautiful landscaping, this multi-million dollar custom built home sets the standard for luxury mountain living. This wonderful property is being offered for the first time on the rental market, having been privately owned since it was built in 2006.
Built of the highest grade natural materials in the age-old tradition of cabin craftsmanship, Red Stag Lodge provides an ambiance of picturesque rustic elegance, while at the same time offering all of the modern amenities of a perfect mountain retreat, including multiple large decks, outdoor fireplace, outdoor hot tub, game room, DirectTV (with NFL package), broadband wireless internet, and custom lighting, in addition to high end furnishings, and rustic mountain décor. Offering four levels of living, it is the perfect place to enjoy a family vacation, reunion, ski vacation, or just to enjoy a few days to get away from it all together with close family and friends. The house comfortably sleeps up to twelve people, offering three king bed sleeping areas, plus a separate bunk room floor with a queen bed plus four built-in bunk beds, together with its own mini-kitchen and living area.
Red Stag Lodge’s main floor evokes the warmth and coziness of the true cabin lifestyle, featuring a soaring real stone wood-burning fireplace, walls formed from hand-hewn wood timbers, towering wood beams imported from British Columbia, hardwood floors, and custom-made poplar bark cabinetry. The gourmet kitchen contains all stainless steel appliances, rainforest granite countertops, and high-end cookware. Also on the main floor is the master bedroom suite, which has a king-sized bed and adjoining oversized master bath featuring dual sinks, custom poplar bark cabinetry, walk-in closet, state-of-the-art steam shower, and old-fashioned soaking tub. Overlooking the great room is a beautiful loft featuring two king sleeping areas with a full bath, their own deck, and seating area with built-in desk space.
Walk outside of the main floor to enjoy the fresh mountain air and views while relaxing on the expansive outdoor deck, which features a grand wood-burning real stone fireplace, outdoor bar, large custom-built picnic table, and plenty of rocking chairs. You can grill out on the stone fireplace’s built-in grill, or use the separate Holland Grill propane chargrill if you prefer. Step around the corner of Red Stag Lodge’s wrap around deck to take a dip in the outdoor Tiger River Spas hot tub.
Just below the main floor is the large game room which features a plethora of entertainment options, including top-of-the-line pool table, ping pong table, air hockey table, dart board, and custom-built rustic poker table, in addition to numerous card and board games, providing fun for all ages. It also boasts its own covered deck, and an additional full bath and a sleeping area with a queen size bed. Below this floor is the bunk room level, complete with a queen bed nestled into its own sleeping nook, four built-in twins (bunk) beds, full bath with dual sinks, its own kitchenette, and tv/game area, featuring both XBox 360 and Nintendo Wii, with several games provided for our guests’ use.
Unlike many other mountain homes, Red Stag Lodge has fairly level, paved access, proving much less challenging in winter. In addition, this luxury home is perfectly located to take advantage of all of the activities of North Carolina’s High Country, with spectacular mountain scenery everywhere you look. Enjoy the gourmet restaurants and excellent specialty and gourmet boutiques of Banner Elk (less than 5 minutes- 3.5 miles - away), Blowing Rock, Linville, and Boone. Plus, outdoor daytime activities abound, including guided or unguided fly fishing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, trips to nearby Grandfather Mountain and the Blue Ridge Parkway, as well as white water rafting excursions for the more adventuresome. Red Stag Lodge at Eagles Nest is also ideally located for winter sports, approximately 10 minutes (6.2 miles) to the entrance to Sugar Mountain Resort, and 15 minutes (7.8 miles) to Beech Mountain Resort, both of which offer some of the best skiing on the East Coast. Or enjoy a day of snow tubing at nearby Hawksnest, the largest snow tubing resort on the East Coast - or take a ride on their zip line, which is open all year, weather permitting.

Excellent location and layout. Loved the game room, multiple living areas, hot tub, grills, and large family/great room. This was an annual extended family ski trip. Would recommend this to other larger groups (12+).- Mark, Posted: 02/05/2024
Beautiful cabin! In a private end road! We had a large group with kiddos and all had an awesome time! One of the most magical times! Especially during New Year's Eve! Amazing community! This is a second time at Eagle Nest and we will be returning. We love the area! Management is very responsive and always helpful!- Ewa, Posted: 01/03/2024
Absolutely loved our stay at Red Stag! Beautiful home with plenty of room for our family of 14. The hosts were quick to answer any questions & even gave us a heads up with an issue they found with one of the downstairs heaters before arriving. Perfect location for any ski-lovers out there with plenty of other things to do around the area!- Jordan, Posted: 11/20/2023
It's always a great time to come to Eagles Nest. This year we had the pleasure to stay at the Red Stag. There is a great kitchen and living room, beds are plentiful and comfortable, and the fire place outside is great! Some how, the chimney prevents you from smelling like smoke! Our boys had a great time hanging out in the game room and staying down stairs in the bunk room. They basically had two floors to themselves. We also tried out the hot tub and played musical chairs to check out all the jets. Certainly recommend this home to big family groups.- Tim, Posted: 09/22/2023
Red Stag was perfect for us. We had all ages so there was plenty of room to spread out. Eagles Nest has so much to offer there is never a dull moment.- Mary Nell, Posted: 08/03/2022

We felt the property and home were well worth visiting again- David and Laura, Posted: 09/28/2021
Communication with property management was helpful and prompt. Loved the house and the relative seclusion. I have elderly parents and teenage kids and this was a great place just to stay put and enjoy each other's company with games and well equipped kitchen to eat in.- Bradley, Posted: 07/26/2021
We had an awesome week at Red Stag Lodge. Our families from PA, UT, and Tallahassee, Ocala and Jacksonville, FL came together to enjoy the mountains and each other. We did excursions in the area every day. The weather was great and the cabin was perfect. We all had our separate spaces and the grandkids really enjoyed their space with bunk beds for each and games to enjoy. The hot tub was used every night and was thoroughly enjoyed. The grandkids had room to ride their bikes. And each night we settled in with a fire in the outdoor fireplace which also got used for grilling hot dogs, steaks and roasting marshmallows for s'mores. Highly recommend Red Stag Lodge and Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals. Thank you so much Amy!- Sharon, Posted: 07/12/2021
Fabulous home with spectacular views. Perfect for our family gathering.- Penny, Posted: 06/21/2021
This was the perfect place for our group of nine over spring break. The view from the deck is breathtaking and the game room and bunk room were perfect for keeping the kids occupied. The hot tub was in great shape and the basket of towels was a perfect touch. Overall a lovely place to stay and great introduction to the NC mountains!- Sarah, Posted: 03/30/2021
Beautiful home! Our whole group had an amazing time!- Gustaf, Posted: 02/03/2021

Our housing was just as described and suited our family well! When we weren't outside playing in the snow, there was plenty to do inside. Very cozy, but plenty of space to spread out too. Great spot to vacation!- Ellen, Posted: 01/12/2021
Red Stag Lodge is awesome. I highly recommend this property!- Moore, Posted: 12/22/2020
The cabin was beautiful, clean, and exactly what we were looking for. The communication throughout was quick and all our questions were answered.- Brian, Posted: 11/17/2020
Very conveniently located close to downtown Banner Elk and other neighboring areas, we would highly recommend this property! The home was spacious (for our party), clean, well-stocked & well-furnished. Had all the amenities that we were looking for. Game room can be re-organized a bit to allow for more space for some of the games such as pool and ping-pong. Hot tub was a huge bonus! Great location within Eagles Nest with access to all its amenities. We really enjoyed the concert in the evening at the Grand Amphitheater. Fantastic visit, all in all, and will recommend to family & friends!- Aasheesh, Posted: 09/06/2019

BEAUTIFUL house!!!! Stocked with everything you could need - never seen a rental kitchen with everything you could ask for. Eagle Nest is an awesome area and we could walk to the play areas. Perfect for kids! And we saw a bear one morning! All in all a perfect location for our perfect trip!- Angela, Posted: 07/11/2017
With four SUV trunks filled to the brim and the seats filled with grandparents, children, grand children and family dogs we arrived at Red Stag Lodge with high hopes for a special family Thanksgiving and we left a week later knowing that is just what we had experienced! Superlatives are well deserved for this property, the folks at Eagles Nest, the rental folks, and even the cleaning crew. We enjoyed our time at the Lodge immensely and the amenities of Eagles Nest even more! We highly recommend this property for those discerning families who want rustic luxury, outstanding outdoor opportunities, and a quaint location to enjoy family and make marvelous memories!- Judy and John, Posted: 12/13/2016
The home is spacious, modern, and well-equipped. Labels denote which light switches go with which lights which is quite helpful. The rec room was very large with a nice pool table and ping pong table. I would consider moving the pool table so there's room to make all shots, but a short cue was provided to help with this. Not ideal but was ok. The Great Room's TV worked well and had a beautiful fireplace. The kitchen was of adequate size and was very nice. We did not use the gas grill but there was one available. The gas igniter in the fireplace was very useful. There was a problem with the dishwasher but hopefully that has been rectified. Some things are just personal preference, and I know you don't get to design a home just for a short rental; however, I thought I might mention a few things. The Master shower is a pre-fab enclosed unit for steam. If you are over 6' (I am 6'5") it is small and slightly claustrophobic. Not much room to move around in there. For large, beautiful fireplaces (Great Room, Outdoor deck) the grates are way too small and need replacing. This makes it difficult to start and maintain a fire, especially when all the wood is green as was the wood when we were there. The noise from the main road below was bothersome as we usu prefer a home more isolated from a busy road and at a higher elevation for the view. With multiple beds on multiple floors, a second kitchen downstairs, and lots of room, this home would be great for a large family get together. Also, the carport will come in handy during inclement weather. We had absolutely no problem with the keys, lockbox code, and there were detailed instructions for everything in a binder in the kitchen. The Eagles Nest Community is very safe, is well kept, and offers a lot without having to leave the gates.- Bart, Posted: 11/25/2016
Hi, We enjoyed our stay at the Red Stag Lodge so much. The house was beautiful and the view was amazing. Eagles Nest is an incredible property. We can't wait to come back again and we will definitely give it rave review. The only thing I could think of that was missing was a set of darts to use with the dart board. No big deal though. Thank you so much for everything.- Jane, Posted: 11/10/2016
