On The River

Wonderful stay in a convenient and beautiful location. Plenty of beds if you have a group!

The house was perfect for our weekend away. I love staying in this area. Some small details that we had were that the pictures from the brochure and the website need to be updated. The dogs from the house next-door are allowed every time somebody walked out in the front yard. They would bark and bark. I wish the house had a fire pit. There were just a few cosmetic issues around the house, but that's to be expected in a mountain house. The house was clean and we enjoyed the rocking chairs on the front porch.

We were traveling for work so we did not get to enjoy the property as much as I had hoped, but it was truly beautiful with the big yard and the stream in the front yard. Everything was as advertised and clean and easy to enter the property. They were very responsive and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again if in the area. Thank you so much!

We loved our stay at On the River!! The home was cozy and comfortable and spectacularly clean inside and out. The porch was lovely, and the yard was beautiful with all the rhododendrons and dogwoods blooming. My family enjoyed being able to jump right into the river to play. That part of the river appeared to be a good spot for fishing too and would be plenty deep enough to float/tube in the warmer months. The location was perfect - just a few minutes from the Valle Crucis Community Park and Mast General Store and an easy drive to Boone/Blowing Rock. Blue Ridge was great about communication from start to finish. We are excited for our next stay!

The Cabin on the River was perfect for our family. We loved gathering at night for a home cooked meal in the open floor plan living room/kitchen. Space was great. Would have preferred better sleeping arrangements because loft area was Hot and bed was built into wall . But being together with family on the river with fresh snowfall and skiing and sledding nearby was wonderful.

What an awesome location and house!!! Right down the road from the best Original Mass General Store, also located close to Boone for the awesome downtown shopping and close enough to Sugar and Beech Mountain for those wanting to enjoy skiing/boarding. The local Trout Farm catch and keep is such an awedome experience! The creek at the house out back is absolutely beautiful, location is amazing, and the houses main area is incredibly spacious. I loved the open floor plan! The back porch is cozy with lots of seating area and the grill is perfectly located for cooking! Our family of 6 loved every inch of this house, beds, space, kitchen, etc was perfect! Can't say enough positive things about this property... we would definitely rent again!

We have stayed at this cabin for 2 years for 2 kids graduating from App State. It is just a short drive to campus but away from all the busyness of Boone. The kitchen is well stocked, but our favorite place is the porch. We spent most of our evenings there, rocking in the chair and enjoying the peace and quiet of the back yard. Next time we will need to come for an actual vacation!

Fantastic experience as always. The cabin is cosy, with a stunningly landscaped backyard with the Watauga River running in the back yard. Walking distance (along the river) to a great park (Valle Crucis Park). Centrally located for many other activities including hiking, skiing and dinners out.

This cabin was perfect for our family. Great location, close to a beautiful park for small children, and easy access to Boone, Blowing Rock, and the Parkway. We had such a great time we extended our stay by one night.

We were really looking forward to a week away this fall and we were not disappointed. Staying in a cabin right on the river was very special and the cabin only enhanced our enjoyment. The cabin is rustic but fully furnished with all necessary appliances as well as a Smart TV. The furniture was comfortable and the setting was cozy. We had lunch on the screened porch and enjoyed the rocking chairs on the porch as well. The property was clean and well maintained and the managers even helped us retrieve something we forgot. We really appreciated their help! We will definitely be returning to "On the River" and I certainly recommend it to fellow travelers!
