It is a great place and a central location to North Carolina Highlands, between Boone and Blowing Rock.
- Jen, Posted: 09/20/2023
Great place! Nice location, great mountain feel. Would love to stay again!
- David, Posted: 04/05/2023
Picked this location because it was away from the main areas. Communication was seamless. Kitchen had everything I needed. Grill worked out great. Has a small fire pit which was nice after a long day of hiking. The trails in the parkway were amazing. Boone Fork Trail was stunning. Great places to eat with on a short drive. Will definitely be back.

Great stay in a cozy cabin in close proximity to Boone and Blowing Rock. Loved spending my birthday weekend there with my husband and dog!

Great spot for two people - loved the fireplace and hot tub

This was our second visit to Monkey Business, as we liked it so much the first time that we chose to go back for our honeymoon! Love that the cabin is easily a few minutes from lots of things in Boone, but still secluded enough to get away from it all when we wanted to.
- Courtney, Posted: 03/20/2019
We had a wonderful experience at Monkey Business through Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals! The communication prior to and during our stay was fantastic. The cabin was also very clean. No concerns!
- William, Posted: 11/16/2018
Just as described. The cottage was perfect for couples. We were there with our dog and what a good way to relax and rejuvenate from city life.
- Timothy, Posted: 10/17/2018
Monkey Business was absolutely perfect!! We will be staying here again!
- Derrick, Posted: 09/10/2018
The place was beauitful, the cabin was AWESOME! The people was very friendly and even gave me a courtesy call to let me know before heading up the road was close which I thought was really nice to have people looking out for that, over all I'd give a 10 stars all day because I took the love of my life up there for her and she absolutely loved it. We will definitely come back.

I cannot recommend Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals highly enough--if I could give them ten stars, I would certainly do so! Never had such a smooth and convenient check-in and -out process, and our vacation cabin was spotless and supplied with all the basics for the first night or two. Bed was even made! Everyone involved worked very hard to make this a perfect getaway experience, and we are so grateful. Will definitely be coming back again!!
- Lori, Posted: 07/16/2018
Booking with Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals was easy and straightforward. When our house was going to be ready for check in a few minutes later than the standard check in time, someone called to let us know so that we could plan accordingly. The cabin had great amenities and was very clean. Would definitely stay with them again--in fact, we are planning our fall trip now!

Excellent service, outstanding fulfillment of expectations, perfect vacation.
- Alexis, Posted: 05/31/2018
ABSOLUTLY PERFECT! No fuss. Easy peasy to make arrangements. Very clean. Great internet. Ecstatic with the way previous guests paid it forward with their leftover unneeded spices, coffee, tin foil, etc. We did the same. Very quiet and peaceful. Perfect for our anniversary getaway.
- Pavana, Posted: 03/13/2018
Fantastic - simply superb experience

We have enjoyed our long weekend at Monkey Business. 2 adults & a 4yr old who has had a blast! This was much needed family time. We adore all of the attention to detail in each room. We saw deer & lightning bugs and enjoyed the thunderstorm which made it even cozier. It has been a lovely stay at Monkey Business
- Christopher, Posted: 02/23/2018
Our stay at Monkey Business was a nice unexpected provisional. Our other accommodations fell through and this sweet little cabin had a list minute opening. Many couples before us have written about rekindling the romance, and that’s what it did for us too! We celebrated 5 years of our marriage covenant today! The most interesting thing that happened was we spotted a fairly large black bear! He actually knocked over the outdoor trash can to look for a snack! He scampered away as soon as we heard us unlock the door. This cabin is a hidden gem! The wood is gorgeous throughout the house and the artistic touches are full of great heritage. We are feeling refreshment in our souls and feel this place has a valuable part in that. Thank you for providing such a sweet space for memories to be made.

This is our first visit to Monkey Business but not our last! This is our first vacation and it could not have been more perfect. The house is peaceful, the fire pit along the creek is so relaxing and the hot tub is fantastic after a long day of hiking. This was a great getaway & we will be back!
- Adriana, Posted: 02/23/2018
Monkey Business was our honeymoon destination! We enjoyed the hot tub and had a great time at the local fare and quality microbreweries. As everyone has written,We Will Be Back.

My husband and I came for our honeymoon and this has been the most incredible week ever. We both enjoyed every amenity you provided, especially the hot tub and firepit under a full sky of beautiful stars. We also enjoyed various activities in the area and we look forward to returning. Thank you for such a beautiful place to stay and making it so welcoming.

My husband (an ASU graduate) and I come to the Boone/Blowing Rock area in the fall to attend some of the ASU football games. We usually rent much larger cabins to share with college friends and family. To celebrate our 40th anniversary we chose Monkey Business for our quiet romantic getaway. Living less than an hour from Myrtle Beach, we prefer the 4 hour drive to the mountains for the crisp air and beautiful views. Arriving at Monkey Business a little early, we had the pleasure of meeting the owners. Their warmth and graciousness certainly reflect in the charm, decor, and ambiance of this cozy cabin. We hope to return again, God willing, for many more anniversaries! Our 7 year old Yorkie came along for the ride, sleeping between us to prevent too much monkey business. It was refreshing to stay in a mountain cabin with so much history- and no bear decorations!

Thank you for making our 20th wedding anniversary relaxing and memorable! The 9 inches of snow was a bonus- made the fireplace extra nice.
- Wade, Posted: 07/13/2017
We came to this cabin in February 2013 and got engaged. We are here again and have been happily married 2+ years! Boone may change in tiny ways throughout the years, but this cabin is always a cozy and serene get-away for us. I hope to be back again as we grow old with each other.
- James, Posted: 07/13/2017
We came to Monkey Business for many reasons. To rest up and get away from it all and to enjoy the peace and quiet and time alone. Our main reason for coming here was to celebrate our soon-to-be 6th Wedding Anniversary. My husband is now retired Navy but due to many circumstances on his last ship, and after trying twice to set a date for a wedding, we finally ended up going to the Justice of the Peace. We said we would have one ASAP but life gets in the way. So this was our long-overdue Wedding Celebration/Honeymoon we never got to have. AND IT HAS BEEN WONDERFUL! It has been a special time for us. All of the little extra touches, such as the history of the artwork in the cabin, was an added bonus! We loved the hot tub and my husband really enjoyed using the grill every night. What a fabulous getaway it has been for us! We are already talking about our next trip here and our dog Cooper will love it so much! We will be back, and we look forward to it!

My husband and I just celebrated 15 years of marriage. Although we wanted a vacation to a place we have never been to, the reality is we are parents and we have demanding jobs that don't pay us enough. So, a retreat to the mountains to relax is what we decided on and it was WORTH IT! My husband was so relaxed and we were able to just be together. We loved Monkey Business and look forward to coming back in the future!
- David, Posted: 07/07/2017
Monkey business is located in a quiet area between Boone and Blowing Rock. The cabin is surrounded by lush green foliage, rhododendron, lilies, and tall hardwoods. A small stream runs beside the deck. This is a peaceful place to get away to, and it is only four miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway's Moses Cone Memorial Park. Julian Price Park and Grandfather Mountain are also near, making this the perfect base camp for hikers without having to give up the conveniences of home. The cabin itself has been thoughtfully furnished with antiques and interesting art pieces. The view into the woods from the deck is delightful, and there is a small goldfish pond with fire pit and chairs across the driveway in front.

Monkey Business is the perfect cabin for a romantic getaway! It was so quiet and peaceful. We especially enjoyed using the hot tub and the fire pit outside. We are hoping to return in the future!!

Just wanted to let you know that Joe and I has a wonderful time. The Monkey business made it so easy to just get away and disconnect. The setting was so peaceful and private, a small peace of paradise. We really appreciated being able to bring our Giselle pooch to stay with us. This also reduced our stress and worry along with helping us to relax knowing she was cared for. We thank you very much for assisting us with our stay. Micki did a great job! very personable and prompt. We look forward to returning, sooner than later hopefully!

What an absolutely amazing cabin to spend a romantic anniversary weekend mountain getaway. We didnt want to leave! All the amenities of Monkey Business were just perfect, especially the fireplace! Hot tub, great walking path, and privacy was perfect. We cant wait to come back next year! The property was picturesque, snowy, and relaxing. Just wonderful!

Since moving to SC from the West to the North we miss the beauty and charm of the Colorado mtns and the Pennsylvania snow. The area really satisfied our need for a quaint mountain town and Monkey Business was the perfect place to stay. Also while venturing out we met some wonderful people. Definitely visit the Banner Elk Winery and the Jerky Outpost in Valle Crucis. We found some beautiful gems at the Foggy Mountain Gem Mine. The Hot tub and cabin were so relaxing. Walking through the woods was beautiful with all the snow. We couldnt ask for a better getaway!

This was my husbands birthday including My birthday weekend. We have been married 17 years. This is the first time weve ever rented a cabin and it wont be the last. We have thoroughly enjoyed the quietness this cabin provides. Its beautifully designed and layout is perfect for all couples. Even though it was super cold and snowing, we needed some R and R. We stayed in except when going out to lunch at The Rock Sports Bar. Service and food was great. We cant wait to come back when its warmer to enjoy the pond and more outdoor activities. We Loved Monkey Business.

This is my husbands and mine 1 year wedding anniversary trip and this cabin couldnt be more perfect. Our first day here was quite rainy so we stayed in until dinnertime when we decided to try Best Cellar. Best cellar is located inside an inn, but dont let that detour you because the food and hospitality was amazing! Saturday we took a trip over to Appalachian Ski Mountain where we thought we would try our luck. A couple bruises but we are doing all right. Sunday we had breakfast downtown before heading out. Thank you Monkey Business for making our trip special!

My Fiance and I needed time away. I am a firefighter and EMT and she is a Sheriffs deputy. We loved the area and everything about the cabin made us feel comfortable. Our pup Axel enjoyed himself as well. We will definitely be back!

We had a great time celebrating our 5th anniversary at Monkey Business! We had a weekend away from our children and enjoyed this cozy cabin to ourselves. We had a great time hiking at Moses Cone Memorial Park! Thank you for a beautiful cabin!

We rented Monkey Business for a four day vacation, and it was fantastic. I have spent a great deal of time thinking how I would like to pick up that cabin and move it to Florida to live in permanently. Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals is an excellent company to work with, and we look forward to booking the exact same cabin again.

Weve had a delightful stay at Monkey Business. This was planned as a getaway to celebrate Dales retirement. Weve enjoyed the cabin, the cooler air, daily hikes, excellent meals, and good books. The TV was never turned on! Life isnt perfect, but is sure is wonderful.. as this week has been. We are excited to enter another phase of life: retirement! We hope this week is an indication of experiences yet to enjoy.

We were quite impressed with Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals. We stayed in the Monkey Business cabin for our anniversary in May 2015. We were pleased with the cabin and impressed with the customer service. We look forward to renting from Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals again.

Our experience, was one built of memories that will last a lifetime. We absolutely fell in love with Monkey Business. Starting from the moment we pulled up, leading to our inevitably bittersweet departure. It was everything we couldve possibly asked for in a mountain getaway. The added amenities included, are a bonus that push the relaxation level to absolute maximum. Seclusion, privacy, and the ability to completely disconnect from the norm, is very fulfilling for the soul. Its a true chance to recharge and enjoy nature. An experience that I can only describe as letting yourself, take a deep breath in, and exhaling all stress..... the cure for what ails you. A place that truly feels home away from home. Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals make sure your experience is your own. There is no pressure to turn in the keys that unlocked your getaway. Just because your checkout date has arrived, doesnt mean you have to go home. They will tell you with a smile, as they provide you your means for retreat, Enjoy your stay, the keys are yours to hand in when youre ready. A true experience of peace that everyone needs to immerse themselves in, if not just once.

What a wonderful, peaceful, and cozy please to celebrate our 22nd anniversary! Snow the first day, mild and sunny the second day- fireplace, hot tub, gourmet foods- just what we were looking for. Can just imagine how beautiful it is when the rhododendrons are blooming in June! Appreciate the history of some of the furnishings and artwork. Thank you for sharing your little piece of heaven on earth!

My fiancé and I enjoyed every moment spent at Monkey Business! This cabin is small and very intimate which is exactly what we were looking for. Its tucked back in the woods and surrounded by Mountain Laurel and Rhododendron; just our style! We spent almost all of our time relaxing in what I can only describe as a simply amazing hot tub!! will definitely remember this place for when we are looking to escape again!!
