Lakeshore Retreat at Sweetgrass

The Lakeside Retreat house we rented on the lake was outstanding for a girl's weekend in Blowing Rock. We wanted for nothing and we had no problems. BRM were easy to work with from beginning to end. Highly recommend looking at their properties for a rental in that area.

We enjoyed our stay at Lakeshore Retreat. It has a great view of the lake and we love all the hiking trails at Sweetgrass. We especially appreciate Amy setting us up for a late checkout at Lakeshore Retreat and an early check in at Crystal View on the same day. It made our transfer day much easier! Amy has always been a delight to work with and is one of the reasons we book all our rentals with Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals.

It was beyond our expectations. The house was beautiful and very clean. The kitchen was modern with excellent appliances and a huge center island for preparing meals. Loved the view of the lake at our doorstep. Bathrooms were up to date with relaxing showers. We have nothing negative to say about this rental.

We stayed at this beautiful home for a week in July. The descriptions and photos on line were spot on. When we walked in the front door we all gasped at the view of the lake out of the wall of windows. Bedrooms were lovely. Beds were very comfy. And oh! Those showers. Our master shower downstairs was so wonderful, we didn't want to get out. My sons and grand daughter loved paddleboarding and fishing. Didn't catch any large fish, but had a ball. We had a fire in the fireplace on the expansive back porch every evening and listened to the bullfrogs communicating with each other. We have rented other vacation homes from different companies. None of them compare to this.

We had a great stay! The view of the lake was amazing from most of the house, and the floorplan worked great for our family. We liked having the big dining table, multiple living areas, outdoor fireplace, and easy access to the outdoor area and lake. The house was stocked with most kitchen ingredients, dishware, appliances, etc, as well as having tons of books, puzzles and games on both levels. There were lots of baby/younger kid supplies such as a high chair, pack and play, and plastic tableware. Everything felt brand new, which is extra nice for a rental property! There were lots of nice walking trails around the neighborhood, but we weren't sure what other amenities, such as kayaks, were included for renters (though it ended up being cooler weather anyway). One slight oddity we encountered was in the downstairs master bath, it would be helpful to have a blind or privacy screen on one of the windows as the view goes right to the toilet via the mirror! We also had a power outage due to wind gusts; it took a few calls and messages to be able to speak with someone on a Saturday afternoon, but they did call us back each time and it got fixed within a few hours. We had a great stay overall and would definitely stay here again!

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Lakeshore Retreat. It is the most beautiful setting ever. We were without hot water for several hours but it was repaired and we truly enjoyed the remainder of our stay. The view is amazing! We were in awe from the minute we entered the home. The home sitting on the lake is a definite plus. We will definitely be back. Hopefully, it will be available for our anniversary next September. ❤️❤️❤️

This house was awesome! Very spacious with plenty of room for 2 families. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed and I so appreciated the kids items (plates, cups, forks, spoons, etc). Decor and furniture was well done and outdoor space was so nice. We spent most of our time on the back porch by the fire. The beds are not super comfy but we didn’t care given everything else was so well done. I highly recommend this house!

My family just spent a wonderful week at Lakeshore Retreat. The house is gorgeous, with beautiful expansive views of the lake from almost every room and the huge deck. We loved the floorplan and the décor, and the house was clean and well-stocked. We brought our own kayaks and loved kayaking literally off our backyard. Sweetgrass is a beautiful, peaceful community. We enjoyed biking every day, as well as exploring the trails along the creek. I loved the views of Grandfather Mountain from the grounds and the lake. This community is a shutterbug's dream – I could not stop taking photos. We will definitely stay here again. Blue Ridge Rentals was great to work with and we would confidently rent through them anytime.

The property was fantastic, the home is new and extremely well furnished with all the comforts you can hope for. The lake and walking trail were terrific, multiple family walks and fishing took place, and it was easy to keep an eye on 10-12 year olds by the water. We loved the outdoor fireplace and rocking chairs on the large deck. The location is great, close to Blowing Rock and a short trip to Boone. We took day trips to Linville, Asheville, Grandfather Mountain and had a really pleasant experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. We stayed for a week and had so much fun. We had 4 adults and 5 kids. There was plenty to do and lots of space inside and outdoors for the kids. Wish we could’ve had fishing poles to fish in the lake. Also, one towel for each person wasn’t ideal. We ended up buying a few extra at the store. The house was close to all the attractions like skiing, tubing, gem mining, lots of hiking and horseback riding. We stayed busy and the kids had a blast. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would love to come back.

We spent the week of Christmas at Lakeshore Retreat and had an absolutely amazing time. The property was very clean and the instructions to arrive and check-in were crystal clear. We spent most of our week at the house given the pandemic, but getting to and from downtown Blowing Rock was fairly straightforward. We had a family of 5 plus 3 parents. Our children (ages 3, 5 and 7) had a great time in and outside of the property. All 8 of us were very comfortable and the sleeping arrangements were quite accommodating. The property seems fairly new and has been maintained very well. For anyone concerned about whether the kitchen had basic pots, pans, utensils, and other appliances, you will be pleasantly surprised. The kitchen was incredibly well stocked for a rental unit. We typically bring a basic set of popover pans, small appliances and baking dishes, but the home had all of these items and more. There was also a stand mixer available. While it was rather chilly, we managed to take a few walks across the trails that circle the lake. Alternatively, you could easily walk within the neighborhood if you wanted some longer distance. Kudos to the property owner for setting up a Christmas tree. While we were not expecting to have some holiday decorations, we and in particular the kids were thrilled to have a tree that not only lit up but played music as well! We were able to have two nights of fires using the outdoor fireplace before rain, snow and extremely cold weather settled in. The outdoor deck has a table and would make for a great dining experience during warmer months. For those concerned about getting snowed in or having to deal with ice during winter on the mountain, we did see several plows go through the neighborhood and Hwy 221 leading up to the property was fairly well maintained with plows and salt trucks. There is a snow shovel at the property that I ended up using to move snow off the paved driveway to ensure we could get to the primary road. All in all, we had a great experience over the Christmas break. The property listing is true to word and the pictures are accurate. We hope to return perhaps in the spring to enjoy a different season at this property. One last note about the rental company - Blue Ridge Rentals. I found their communication and response time to our questions incredibly fast and well informed. They certainly helped make our stay very enjoyable.

There is a snow shovel at the property that I ended up using to move snow off the paved driveway to ensure we could get to the primary road. All in all, we had a great experience over the Christmas break. The property listing is true to word and the pictures are accurate. We hope to return perhaps in the spring to enjoy a different season at this property. One last note about the rental company - Blue Ridge Rentals. I found their communication and response time to our questions incredibly fast and well informed. They certainly helped make our stay very enjoyable.

I took some family members and friends to celebrate a birthday and this home was perfect. The views are great, the home is perfect and the space was just right for 7 of us. Has nothing to do with the property, but a "quick grocery run" is a solid 40 min round trip so load up before you get there because you will not want to leave. This place is amazing. Stop looking and book it.

Sweetgrass was conveniently located to both Sugar Mountain and Hawksnest as well as being a beautiful destination all on its own. The house was beautiful and situated directly on the lake. Plenty of room for two families with children! Would definitely recommend.
