Description Description

Welcome to Highwood

Whether your goal is summer adventure, scenic drives in fall, or the winter ski season, Highwood offers a convenient base from which to enjoy all the High Country attractions amid stunning natural beauty. Boasting two separate living spaces, two tiers of wrap-around decks, and three gated yard areas, we can accommodate groups of all sizes and interests.

The main level provides a fully stocked kitchen with stainless appliances and an abundance of herbs and spices for your culinary inspiration. Charge your battery in the morning with host-provided coffee, tea, and all the fixings. There is seating for six in the dining room, plus additional chairs, and for four more at the counter. Unwind around the stone hearth in the log and beam living room with its vaulted ceilings, soaring windows, and rustic  & whimsical decor. Here you can relax with a cocktail, movie, or card game, or just kick back and enjoy the view.

Our recently refreshed sleeping accommodations ensure there is space and convenience for all.  There are two King suites, on the main and lower levels, each with its own bath. A full laundry room is in the main level bath. Upstairs are two more bedrooms, each with a private half bath and shared tub/shower. One has a Queen bed and a twin daybed; the other has two twin beds. All but the twin bedroom have smart TV’s, and all feature updated, super quiet, ceiling fans to enhance the cool or warm air depending on the season. While upstairs, pop into our loft, The Look-Out,  to spend time spotting wildlife, mountain viewing, and star-gazing with the telescope. You’ll find a work-station here for away-from-home tasks, and enjoy the peace of mind of two dedicated networks of high-speed, fiber optic internet. There are Queen pull-out sofas in both living rooms, and a futon-sleeper in the loft. The auxiliary sleeping areas have varying levels of privacy and are best suited to children and early risers!

Head down to the lower-level living room, with loads of board games and comfy seating for a movie night. For the young and young at heart, there is ping-pong, foosball, and an arcade station featuring Pac-Man, Galaga and ten more games. But your entertainment and recreation options do not end there. A gas grill and dining area is on the upper level, while the recessed hot tub is down below. Both levels of wrap-around decks provide plenty of deck chairs and superb mountain views. Our large, fenced fire pit yard, pre-loaded with wood, invites gathering and story-telling, while the balconied terrace is perfect for a morning coffee or end of day glass of wine. Another private, walled yard offers seating and a spot for quiet contemplation. Here, or from the main level bedroom window, you can observe the family of deer who graze outside the gate many mornings between 7:30-8am. Don’t make any sudden movements or they will bolt!

This was our first trip into the mountainsWe had a great stay. The place was sparkly clean and a perfect size. Check in was pretty seamless. It was too warm to use the hot tub and the fire pit, but we enjoyed chilling out on the deck, grilling outside and relaxing on the couches. It’s a windy drive to town but fairly easy to navigate. The view of the mountains isn’t as great as some of the other cabins along the road, still cool to see the fog lift around you in the morning.

Thank you for the great review. Glad Highwood was sparkling clean, the perfect size, and that check‑in went smoothly. Appreciate the note about the windy drive and the mountain view—the morning fog can be a nice bonus. We’d love to host you again. - BRMR

The men loved the view, firepit, board games and very nice home to stay in. The hot tub did not work but it was too hot for that anyway!

Thank you, Candace! Glad the men enjoyed the view, firepit, board games, and that Highwood was a very nice home for your stay. Sorry to hear the hot tub didn't seem to be working; for future guests, our maintenance team has looked at the tub and confirmed it is operating normally. We’d love to host you again! - BRMR
