We had a fantastic stay! All I can say is VIEWS VIEWS VIEWS were beautiful. As a VRBO owner I would only add—- kitchen utensils/appliances could be updated. Knives were extremely dull and crockpot didn't work. (I would want to know as an owner) Did not affect our stay as we had a fantastic time. Highland Mist gets a 10 out of 10 for our stay. Our family came up to see the fall leaves and attended the Woolly Worm Festival and had such a great experience. Highland Mist was everything it said it was. Plenty of space for our family with all the amenities and supplies we needed. The view was absolutely spectacular. Property was amazing. Well furnished. Views from the deck were amazing. Cabin is decorated really well. Paved roads leading to the Cabin. Not too far away and not too close to everything. Cabin is in a great location. Very private and quiet. Plenty of parking for up to 5 cars. Beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped. Had everything we needed. Owner does a nice job of making your stay feel like home. We were able to leave the doors open for the cool air and the dogs loved being able to go out to the deck and see the cows across the road. I would stay at this cabin again.

This house was really nice, but the best part was the property that it was located on. The drive up to the house was pretty wild - lots of steep twists and turns on the road up to the property (4WD is a must in the winter.)
The privacy and views from the home were amazing. We saw a handful of deer and cows in the area, which really made it feel like we were out in the wild.
The hot tub was out of order for the first half of the trip, but the host eventually had a repairman come out to get it working. Otherwise, the home was exactly as described. Plenty of room for a family of five, and it could easily fit more.
The water pressure left a little to be desired, but maybe that’s common up in the mountains. Not a big deal either way.
The name of this place is the “Highland Mist,” and it lives up to the name. Daily mists came through in December and limited the visibility for a little while, but it was really neat. This was a very unique stay, and it lived up to the hype!

Wonderful cabin to stay in with the family. Kids were able to sled on the front slope of the property, walk around in the woods behind the house, and have their own personal space. Fantastic views, very private, easy to access. Only downside was that the hot tub wasn’t working and we were unaware until we arrived that it was places out of order. Wished we had known as that’s a big thing for the kids. Could tell it was a rental property as some of the cabinet faces were falling off/off completely, or handles fallen off of dressers. Aside from those very small cosmetic issues and the hot tub, would rent and stay again.

This was a fabulous spot for our family and friends. We wanted to be near Banner Elk and Lees-McRae College. There are a few turns in the road to get there but it's not bad and worth it! Just up the road from Banner Elk Winery. The home is well appointed and comfortable.

The house is beautiful. The kitchen was furnished with so many extras. Very spacious loved the big yard. We used all amenities this house offered. We only had one draw back but I’m not sure it’s with the house. This is the second time we have stayed with Vrbo/blue ridge mountain rentals and the houses are not clean upon arrival. I just cleaned myself as we didn’t want anyone coming in once we had arrived. The master shower curtain needs to be replaced and the mold in bathroom needs to be cleaned. All in all we loved the house.

We've stayed at many rental cabins with our large family and this has been the best one yet. A lot of times the pictures look so awesome only to be disappointed when we arrive. This place was amazing and the pictures don't even do it justice. The rental company that manages Highland Mist is top notch. They are very responsive. We were there when we had 1.5 feet of snow. We actually got snowed in. It was the most beautiful snow we'd ever seen! The views from this home are amazing. We do have one problem though... Now we don't think we will ever be happy at another place because it will be nearly impossible to find something as awesome as this place. Stay here! You will not be disappointed!

Our winter holiday stay at this mountain retreat was absolutely wonderful! The home is beautiful, cozy, and well furnished. We greatly enjoyed both fireplaces, the fire pit and lolled in the hot tub, with snowflakes falling.
The views were extraordinary, as we were at the top of the mountain and we had a family of deer visiting in our backyard. We brought a cooler full of meat, a trunkful of firewood, and after a stop at the local supermarket for milk, bread, etc. we were set. I would've been happy never leaving Highland Mist, but the kids wanted to hike, go snow tubing, and visit the great Mast General Store.
The folks at Blueridge Mountain Rentals were kind, helpful, and Johnny on the spot with any request. They even had firewood delivered. I will call on them for all of my future mountain vacation rentals.

Our family of four really enjoyed our stay at Highland Mist; we utilized pretty much everything from the pool table to the hot tub. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware and silverware, and bakeware. There was also a surplus of plates and bowls. They even had kids plastic ware.
The beds were comfortable and everyone appreciated all their own bathrooms; having a boy and a girl it’s becoming something of importance to us.
Make sure you bring an all wheel drive vehicle or 4 wheel drive so you can make it to the house. There was a very small part of the road that would have been difficult had we not had one during the snow we received.
The property management company was phenomenal - they were very responsive and helpful as we had questions.
Our only cons: there was no garbage disposal which was a minor inconvenience, the fireplace wire grates are broken so we weren’t comfortable having a fire (something that we would have relished), and sound insulation wasn’t great. We could hear everything; as long as you are aware and it’s not a big deal to you then this place is really a fabulous set up! We would absolutely return if given the chance.

The house is beautiful - we had a fantastic time. The view was absolutely amazing! Our only complaint is that the games in the game room are outdated and don't really work- the pool table and ping pong table specifically. Otherwise, a great time!

The house was beautiful. The view was priceless. We were warned about the proper vehicle and possible chains. With the weather not being bad at all and our stay during the trip was warm and rainy, I thought the driveway could have been taken care of because of the ice on our first day of arrival. I would definelty book again. Thank you

The cabin was very comfortable for us and our adult four kids + 2 spouses! Kitchen had almost everything you need to cook Thanksgiving turkey and the house was very comfortable + roomy, though we were a little disappointed the outdoor fireplace couldn't be used (on the porch).

Our family loved our stay at the beautiful Highland Mist cabin over spring break. The house was well laid out for multiple families with plenty of space to spread out. We enjoyed cooking meals in the well stocked kitchen. We also loved all the games and game tables provided. At the end of the the day we enjoyed soaking in the hot tub and sitting by the fire. We will definitely return in the future!

We celebrated a third birthday this weekend with eleven people. The house is very roomy with beautiful views. Spacious, open livingroom with kitchen and dining. The two fireplaces are great for smores. We hated we only booked a long weekend instead of a whole week!

Highland Mist was an absolutely awesome experience. Beautiful home, everything ready to go in and stay. I highly suggest 4-wheel drive if you come in the winter months. Awesome exploration area behind the cabin. If you hike to the top you will discover Big Rock Park. Great place to take pictures! This was the first time our family has ever rented a home/cabin. This did not disappoint.

The house was beautiful, comfortable, clean, and had every thing we needed. We went hiking in Pisgah and enjoyed the local winery then we returned back to the cabin to watch beautiful sunsets, enjoy the fireplaces, the hot tub, and the games. The kitchen was well stocked and the dining room was a perfect place to share some family time and home cooking!! Each bedroom had comfy beds and lovely bathrooms. We wished we could have stayed longer!

The view is endless and reminds you how big God is and how small we are. A very relaxing stay with very little interference from the outside. You can get away with a lot when no else is around, so that was fun. Looking forward to another visit!

We put puzzles together, read books, relaxed in the hot tub, played pool, and built a fire and made smores! We even went for a walk down the road to Rocky Knob.
