This was a perfect long weekend getaway for my wife and I. The "yurt" was clean, cosy, and dry. Yes, there are stone steps to navigate to get to the yurt and you need to travel down a path to get to the bathroom, but really, that's part of the charm! It rained the first night we were there and a thunderstorm came over the mountain the last night we were there - but I slept like a baby - unlike if I was in a tent! I love the fact there is coffee and a small fridge in the yurt, but i did miss a small picnic table outside the yurt for a camp stove so we could cook some small meals. We basically cooked on a rock so all was well. The views were spectacular the the food and festivals in Banner Elk were delightful. In a nutshell, we enjoyed our trip and we will be back.- Ken, Posted: 06/11/2024
The slight hike to and fro was like they said an adventure, and an experience. Just being in that area, and experiencing Gods nature and such beautiful homes and property, and an addition the Great Camp area of amenities. And a Winery! All only minutes from town. Hangs a down a yearly tradition is started!- C., Posted: 10/31/2023
Such a neat experience to hike to your site but still have walls, a floor, electricity, and a TV. Glamping at its best! We will return.- Brandi, Posted: 09/06/2021
IT WAS AMAZING!!! We planned a last minute short get away Anniversary and Birthday weekend and really had no idea what we were getting into but have raved about our weekend to everyone since we got back. The drive to Banner Elk was nothing compared to the drive to our pod once we entered the grounds. The landscaping and flowers were beyond words. Nature was all around every curve. The views were breathtaking. It was all so beautiful. We met the nicest couples! I think that is also what made this weekend most memorable. We arrived on a Thursday about 4pm and were happily surprised with the 'Boulders'. We knew they said a short climb, hubby said to pack lightly... but really had not anticipated how amazing our weekend would end up! We were in the WestGlow and absolutely loved it!! Figuring out that the steps were made of specifically placed stones that lead to each pod with the pods seen and not seen at the same time. Tree lights hanging along the walkways that kept it well lit at night so you can see where to walk. Yes, they do shut off, but I assure you we were in bed tired from hikes before that happened. Again, our neighbors could not have been more fun. We have made lifelong friends in three days. Building campfires, making smores and laughing with and at each other and ourselves for hours. Funny thing, you learn to time potty visits... and make sure you know which pee pod door is yours and the code! wink-wink - LOL... We did have nature at our door and around us all the times. Chipmunks, Doe's with babies and even an apparent visit by a bear! We had chili nights and the weather was rainy, but for our purposes perfect sleeping weather! Mostly cleared up by the time we were up and moving around for the day. A chance to curl up and relax and listen to nature and enjoy the view from our bed. We even found time to actually read the notebook and found several things to do that we actually did! Took advise on where to eat and then in sharing with the neighbors the discount for extra nights, both of the couples in fact, took advantage of the extra nights at discount prices! (wish we'd have known ahead of time, we would have planned a little differently ourselves).... We all planned our Saturday night around the party at the top of the mountain. They had something for everyone. Real family time to bond and the band was great; food trucks were very tasty. The pizza - well nothing better than homemade pizza cooked right in front of you!... Ummm... so very good. Not to mention the bartender.... did it up right!... So it was a great last night good ending to our weekend get away. I think overall, we were very lucky to have this experience and when word gets out, it will become more and more difficult to book this excursion on short notice like we were able to do. Obviously, this has our highest recommendation! I did have a couple of other comments. For me, personally, there needs to be more hanging options in both the pod and and in the bathroom. A chair in the bathroom would also be helpful. That shower was amazing but no where to really hang my clothes and towels that was close enough to the shower. The perfect place for a command hook!... But have to say, these were very clean and tidy. Thank you!! Another reason I mention hanging options, is that it rained daily while there and having only one very small hook in our pod was just not enough for the coats and towels that we used. Would I go again?... in... a... heartbeat!... YES!! No doubt about it. Would even touch base with the couples to see if we could meet up!- Bob, Posted: 08/26/2020
Good customer service and we really enjoyed our time at the Eagles Nest boulder pod! Unbelievable views and good amenities.- Lindsay, Posted: 07/30/2020
We've stayed in the Boulder Pods at Lodges at Eagles Nest several times. We like glam ping and this experience is superb. The location is second to none! We love sitting around the fire pit drinking wine and grilling while watching the sunset. Great facilities with Breathtaking views rain or shine. Just be prepared to traverse the steep rock path to your pod. Wear sturdy shoes and pack light.- Pam, Posted: 07/09/2019
