The house has a large all wood living room and kitchen with cathedral ceiling, exposed beams, and lots of windows to look out on the natural surroundings. There is plenty of room for everyone to congregate for games, TV, or just enjoying each other’s company while cooking. The large deck overlooks the river with outdoor dining area and large hot tub.
Wounded Fork has three bedrooms plus a sleeping loft and four baths. The master bedroom has a private bath with whirlpool tub plus a walk in shower, and a separate wing on the house holds the other two bedrooms, each with doors out onto their own deck and full bath with walk in shower. This wing of the house also has a separate entrance, gas fireplace and playroom with twin trundle daybed, foosball table and combination table with pool and air hockey.
This eclectic property has several other cozy corner rooms to retreat to and curl up with a good book, sit and daydream, or even tie your own flies in the fly fishing tie station. And if you can’t get away from it all, bring it with you as there is even an office and WIFI. This office has a beautiful hand-built desk with soothing surroundings so you can work and relax at the same time.
One of the best parts of this house is that the Boone Fork of the Watauga River adjoins the property. You are allowed to fly fish or wade within the property line to the middle of the river and it offers the best fly fishing to be had. The Boone Fork is the water coming from Price Lake on the Blue Ridge Parkway, with Simms Creek, Green Branch, and Bee Tree Creek (all on Park Service Land) flowing into the Boone Fork before entering Twin Rivers. Boone Fork is the only stream in the entire Watauga River Basin that is classified as “Outstanding Resource Waters.” The NC Division of Water Quality classified the water quality of the Creek as “excellent.” The Creek also supports exemplary natural communities and a number of rare plant and animal species.
This cabin on the river truly offers a unique opportunity for solitude or solidarity in one of the most beautiful and enticing natural settings available in the High Country.

Girls weekend at the Wounded Fork was perfect! We are all working mothers and needed a peaceful weekend away. We enjoyed the hot tub and overlooking the river from the deck. What a view. Thanks for our very enjoyable weekend.- Gail and Friends, Posted: 12/16/2015
Wounded Fork is all that we needed. Private, serene, beauty, nature, fishing, hot tub……relaxation. We never left the place. We ordered food from TakeOut.com and simply talked and watched TV. Your home is beautiful - Thank you for sharing it with us. We have stayed in two of your other places several times - This one is our favorite. We hate to leave.- Cheryl, Posted: 05/18/2016
This was by far one of the best mini vacations ever and Tweetsies Ghost Train is worth going to also- Derick, Posted: 11/07/2016
We had the most amazing time in this cabin! It was spacious and clean! My children basically lived in the hot tub. We enjoyed hours of sitting on the deck watching the fish and talking. There were board games that we all enjoyed. Thank you so much for letting our family enjoy your cabin. I recommend anyone wanting a secluded place to relax to definitely choose the Wounded Fork cabin. We will be back!- Lindsay, Posted: 11/14/2016
Everything was great. Only issue: one of my guests said a handle fell off of the fooseball table, so we didn’t play, but no big deal. He told me the day we got there, but I neglected to report it as I was having phone issues (AT&T doesn’t do well there).- Davin, Posted: 05/26/2017
Beautiful view of the river. Relaxing and private setting on a few minutes from stores and shopping.- Rich, Posted: 07/24/2017
This house was perfect for our group. The house itself was homey and we loved all the space. The living and kitchen area were perfect for hanging out and playing games. The kitchen was perfect for cooking our many meals. Amazing view and the boys loved to hang out and fly fish in the river. We can't wait to book our next trip at this home.- Laura, Posted: 11/06/2017
Loved the past weekend-stayed for a wedding down the road. It is hard to go back home after the wonderful time we spent here. This was a great retreat from the stress of our daughter's wedding.- Robinson Family, Posted: 06/06/2018
Third time staying here. My husband and I celebrated our 15th anniversary this week. It was perfection. As I have said the last couple of times, this is the only place we'll stay when we come to the mountains. It feels like home and is very special to us.- Timlers, Posted: 07/24/2018
We came from Raleigh for a family vacation and so enjoyed the perfect crisp weather! We visited Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls & Caverns, and played in the river! We saw a group of wild turkeys and had a visit from a black bear! The yellow trout in the river are friendly. Wounded Fork is a great place to stay and we can't wait for another trip!- Taylor Family, Posted: 09/03/2018
We absolutely loved the house! Thank you for being so helpful with everything!- Kenny, Posted: 09/30/2019
Property was clean and well apportioned. There was more than enough room for our family of 5 (2 parents and 3 kids). Everyone was able to have their own space, and this property would be perfect for families or couples groups traveling together, as there are 2 separate wings with a living area/kitchen in the middle. Its not the easiest place to find at night but the GPS on our smart phone and the property managers directions got us there. The location is peaceful right on the river and close to Banner Elk, Blowing Rock and Boone, but far enough away to get out of the hustle and bustle of those towns. The outside patio and the deck on the river are perfect places to relax and unwind, it was a bit chilly during our stay so we could have spent more time outside. The stretch of river out back is quite nice, and had some fishy looking water. We did not do any fishing due to the weather, but it would be recommended for anyone who wants to fish to get familiar with NC licensing and stream access . Overall a great home and a great weekend with the family.- Joshua, Posted: 11/13/2019
Everyone in my group thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property. It was conveniently located, while managing to feel removed from the hustle and bustle of town. The river view was enchanting. This is definitively our favorite place that we have stayed in the Boone area.- Chris, Posted: 03/05/2020
