Experience The Zen Den on beautiful Beech Mountain, the perfect cabin to relax and renew from the daily grind of life. This beautiful chalet is equipped with everything you need to enjoy your vacation. The almost-3,900 foot elevation is perfect for cooling off in the summer while enjoying the private wooded setting. While The Zen Den has had several updates recently, the 1968-era Retro Bavarian-style chalet still maintains its original character.
Prepare everything from snacks to meals in the fully stocked open concept kitchen and enjoy them at the eat-in counter by the kitchen. After dinner, relax in the living room on the plush leather furniture. It’s perfect for movies or to simply enjoy the fire in the original stone gas log fireplace.
Time for bed? The Zen Den offers three separate sleeping areas with space for up to 10 people - a perfect layout for two families. The upper level has a King bed in the loft. The main level has a bedroom with a Queen bed, and a third bedroom with a set of twin-over-twin bunks and a set of twin-over-full bunk beds. There are two full baths on the main level for everyone to share.
Step outside and let the cool mountain air reinvigorate you as you soak in the hot tub. On the front porch you’ll find a selection of seating including a table & chairs and some additional chairs. In the front yard, kick back in one of the rockers around the woodburning firepit and roast marshmallows, or (during the warmer months) take a nap in one of the six hammocks strung up around the property! Enjoy the wooded surroundings and the old-growth 200 year old Beech trees all around the property. There's a herd of 25+ deer that lives in the woods by the property and guests are welcome to feed them with the deer corn and apples in the house, too. (Please be kind to our deer family!)
Located just a short distance from the home is the Beech Mountain Club where guests can enjoy access to Private Restaurants, Championship Golf, Professional Tennis, and a heated pool to name just a few amenities. The Club membership allows for a max of 2 families, 4 people each. Guest passes must be requested and the $200 transfer fee is paid to the Club in advance and limitations may apply.
Beech Mountain ski slopes are just 7 minutes away by car! Additionally, the Buckeye Recreation Center and numerous trout fishing streams are located close by. Guests also enjoy private access to the Gated Winter Road which offers a shorter route to and from Banner Elk so you can even experience more activities including Horseback Riding, UTV tours, an Alpine Roller Coaster, White Water Rafting and Tubing Trips, Dining, Shopping, and so much more.
Additional Notes:
- Returning guests of The Zen Den can receive a 10% repeat guest discount. Please call our office to take advantage of this discount.
- Dogs are welcome! Mature, well-trained dogs only. Max of 2. Pet fee is $25/nt per pet. Dog owners must clean up all outside droppings (including in the dog run) with the provided waste disposal bags and throw them away.
- Hammocks are taken down and stored during winter months.
- AWD or 4WD vehicles are required during winter months. Parking space for 3-4 vehicles. Guests cannot block other driveways.
- All BRMR homes offer well stocked kitchens with all utensils needed to cook meals. There is also a "starter set" of paper products at the house: a roll of toilet paper per bath, a couple garbage bags, a small vial of dishwashing liquid, a few tablets of dishwasher detergent, some laundry pods, a roll of paper towels, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and some makeup remover cloths. There are enough of these items for one night, or maybe two. There are 2 hair dryers at the home.
- Firewood is not provided at the home, but may be purchased in advance from our office with a week (7 days) notice. Firewood is $25/day for 2 bundles of wood and a Firestarter log.
- Towels and linens will be provided for you.
The Zen Den has been lovingly updated but still has elements of its late-1960s construction including narrow, steep interior stairs which may not be suitable for individuals with mobility concerns or for children to climb unaccompanied.
Bookings canceled at least 14 days before the start of the stay will receive 100% refund, bookings canceled at least 7 days before the start of the stay will receive 50% refund.
