Sleeping Accommodations: A Stone's Throw has four official bedrooms, but one additional private sleeping room.
You'll think you're in the south of France or the bright snowy Alps in this stone house with French-inspired decor. Sun-drenched ochres and greens inside combine with breathtaking mountain views outside to whisk you away from the everyday. If 'vacation' means to you a unique experience, with more than the comforts of home, then A Stone's Throw is the place for you!
Enter the main level of this beautiful home up a few steps from either the 2-car garage WITH NEW EV CHARGER! or the front door. This level features a spacious living room with a large stone, wood-burning fireplace, new leather seating, and a 32-inch flat panel cable TV, a dining room with windows facing the west for viewing the wonderful sunsets along the mountain ranges while dining, a large kitchen with plenty of cabinet and counter space as well as a breakfast table with seating for 4 and seating for 2 at the kitchen counter. On this main level there is also a King Ensuite with cable TV, and a full bathroom with tub/shower combination. Step out onto the large deck through either the dining room or living room and marvel at the spectacular mountain views while soaking in the large hot tub.
Upstairs, you'll find three guest rooms. The first is a King bed with ensuite bathroom. The bedroom has a TV and mountain views. The second has a Queen bed and TV. This bedroom shared a full bath with the third room upstairs, another Queen bedroom.
Downstairs are a private room with two sets of bunks, each a twin over a double futon. There is another living room with a large sectional and 40-inch flat panel cable HDTV. The lower level has the fourth full bathroom, as well.
Half of the garage has been converted into a game room! Have fun playing on the (new June 2022) ping pong and Foosball tables! The other half of the garage is accessible to park in, and there is a Tesla brand EV charger in the middle of the garage as well.
This beautiful home is conveniently located in Blowing Rock near Westglow Resort & Spa. Just a little more than 3 miles from Main Street and 2 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Here you will be in a convenient location to experience all the High Country has to offer, including skiing, shopping, dining, Tweetsie Railroad, Moses Cone Manor, while enjoying the peace and tranquility surrounding this wonderful home.
PLEASE NOTE: This home sits on top of a steep hill, which maximizes those long mountain range views. In the event of a rare snow storm, access on the road is only possible for 4-wheel-drive vehicles with snow chains. Please plan accordingly for bookings in winter by bringing 4WD or AWD vehicles; understand that chains may also be necessary in winter months.
Firewood may be purchased at the time of booking or with a week's notice. You receive two wrapped, kiln-dried bundles and a fire starter for $25 plus tax per night.

Banner Elk was a beautiful, unexpected surprise! We usually head to Santa Fe, New Mexico for the holidays but chose to stay closer to our Florida home because of Covid. We wanted to "sequester" where we would be safe from the virus, while still able to take in the unbelievable, majestic beauty in this part of our US. Much to our happiness, we experienced the true, Floridian Christmas dream of a White Christmas while enjoying our gorgeous, Reel Relaxing, one bedroom cottage with all of its comforts, including the most preciously decorated Christmas tree with other, pretty, holiday decorations throughout the place that made our stay even more endearing. This house was all as it was advertised. Our family of 10 was comfortable with all the space. The kitchen was nicely supplied with enough pots, pans, dishes, and small appliances so that we could eat in as well as grill. We were impressed with the communication from Blue Ridge Mount Rentals before and during our stay. All details were clear and concise.
