We absolutely loved our stay at the Doghouse and will likely come back! We wanted a weekend with no to do list so we stayed at the house mostly and spent lots of time by the fire pit by the creek and enjoyed the hot tub. We were in town for the first snow of the season which made it even more special. We loved having our Bernese with us and felt the space was what we were expecting and hoping for. It's less private than described, but the surrounding houses were extremely quiet and not disruptive in any way. The worst part of our stay was a huge storm and 48 mph wind gusts. Lots of branches hit the house which led for a few scary hours in the middle of the night. However, the house was strong and no damage (from what we could see) happened during the storm! Thank you for an easy and enjoyable weekend as guests!

The design and decor of this home is beautiful, and a very peaceful place to bring the dogs for a visit to the mountains. The creekside firepit in particular is a highlight and we look forward to visiting again when there isn't a fireban. We wished we could have stayed longer, overall it was well worth it.

What a wonderful long weekend we had staying at the Dog House! My husband and I love being in the mountains and this stay made it even more enjoyable! A wonderful welcome of waters and pumpkin bread as we entered! Such a nice surprise!! We were very comfortable here as well as our dog! Nice large deck. Gates available to keep your furry friend on the deck. Fire pit area by stream has chairs and firewood. Large hot tub tucked on side of deck. View great from loft area and king bed! Shower water pressure great as this is important for me. We grabbed some split firewood and starter at Food Lion and enjoyed a nice fire inside!! Downtown Boone only 10 mins. Such an easy, pretty drive up to cabin. We would stay again and encourage you to book for a little couples getaway and your dog will love it too!

This was truly a wonderful romantic getaway! The location is great - you are private and in the woods but close to downtown Boone, hiking, and any emergency retail like grocery, shopping etc. The building was beautiful and we loved all the natural light and story behind the cabin. Blue Ridge was easy to work with, professional and proactive. We'd stay here again or at any of their properties in a heartbeat!

This was a perfect property for a short weekend getaway for my wife and I, along with our 10 year old lab. The house is very comfortable, has an awesome outdoor fire pit next to a creek on the property. The location is convenient to a short trip into town(10-15 mins). Charming little cabin not too far away from downtown Boone. Peaceful, quiet, relaxing and clean. Kitchen has everything you need. Plenty of linens in the bathroom and bedroom. Bed was very comfy. And the fire pit along the flowing stream was our favorite part!

The Dog House left me "howling" with delight! When you rent a home, sight unseen, you look at the pictures and hold your breath. As I followed the directions to the Dog House I thought, "How could this beautiful wooded home be located just minutes from Appalachian State University, " but boy was I in for a wonderful surprise. The Dog House is secluded on the side of mountain where all you hear is the wind in the trees and the peaceful babbling stream rushing over a small waterfall. Who'd ever imagine all this for the nature lovers with shopping opportunities less than 10 minutes away. That is what you get at the Dog House! This property was immaculately clean and provided everything you might need for your stay. The WiFi was strong for those who might need to work from home. If you know your Netfix password, you can binge your favorite show after relaxing in the large hot tub or sitting at the fire pit! This property doesn't end with the walls of the house but continue through the woods on gravelled walkways that are well taken care of. Definitely plan on some fire pit time by ordering wood or purchasing some along the roadside. Sitting in the adirondack chairs by the steam is a must. This property is everything they promised, and more. We will return to the Dog House for another "tail wagging" good time!

In one word, perfect! Great for a couples getaway. So close to Boone yet the feeling of seclusion. The house was great, hot tub on the deck was phenomenal. We weren't able to enjoy the fire pit by the stream due to it being too cold but enjoyed the sounds of it. Great cabin, will definitely visit again!

Lovely home, the view from the windows is so relaxing and can be seen from anywhere in the home. All of the items (minus spices, etc.) that you’d need to cook a meal. Directions coming from Blowing Rock do take you down a dirt road that could be tough in a small car, while directions from Boone are via a paved road. Home was clean and mattress very comfortable.

We loved this home and so did our pups! They loved playing by the stream while we drank our coffee. The house is lovely, the tall windows were nice to watch the rainfall and when it wasn’t raining we were able to get in the hot tub that had a nice private wall around it. Both Julian Price and Moses Cone parks are almost right out the door. Staying in is very cool too; this place's architecture and environment are very unique and memorable.

We had an incredible time at The Dog House with our Shepherd, Hailey! We did a brewery tour in Asheville and hiked Elk Knob trail for a beautiful mountain top view. The fire pit was so peaceful and Hailey had a LOT of fun chasing her Kong Ball down the creek. We’ll definitely be back - can’t say enough great things!

The Dog House was a lovely get away for me and my husband and our pup! It's really charming and cozy and has everything you need for a mountain get-away. One day it rained the entire day and we did not leave the house except for a quick morning walk - the house was perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature (loved the big windows). We also appreciated the sounds of the stream just off of the deck and of course, the hot tub! The kitchen has all you need too. Being 10 minutes from Boone was nice too. Can’t beat this location right along a rolling creek with constant waterfall noises that can be heard with all doors and windows closed. Close enough to everything you would need in town yet remote and relaxing. We even got lucky and had a white Christmas in the hot tub. Host provided ample firewood for a few nights which was a nice touch. We highly recommend a visit to Grandfather Mountain!

I can not wait to come back to the doghouse, I researched many rentals before booking and I couldn’t have been happier with my decision. This was exactly what we needed in a cabin and was secluded while still being close to many great restaurant's in Boone as well as many great hikes. After delivering our son seven weeks early and entering into a global pandemic, I knew we would need this trip more than anything. Little did I know that The Dog House was the peace we so needed. From the chaos of an infant and two remote learning children all while working from home for the past several months, this place provided the solitude and space to reconnect with my husband. The fire pit/creek was peaceful, the hot tub was relaxing and the cabin itself was just perfect for the two of us. Everything about this property and this stay was perfect. It was just far enough removed from the bustle of downtown and yet close to so many outdoor adventures. We look forward to coming back in the future.

The Doghouse is super cute and very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The weather was perfect for enjoying the porch, the fire pit down by the stream and the hot tub. Our dog loved being able to lounge on the deck or wade in the stream. The gates on either side of the deck were awesome! The kitchen is well stocked with cooking equipment and we made some delicious meals during our stay. Highly recommend!

Our stay could not have been better! The Doghouse is so cozy and inviting. We loved the rustic authenticity of this place...the rushing stream was a perfect backdrop. We hibernated in our pajamas next to the fire most of the long weekend with the exception of making the short trip into downtown Boone for a few groceries, then out to dinner. Our dog Decker loved venturing thru the woods and into the water! The king bed and the couch were both very comfy; also very pleased with the stocked kitchen cookware/dishes/flatware. The hot tub was AMAZING! The Doghouse is the perfect place for R&R. Thank you for for everything! We will definitely be back!

This was a wonderful stay. The check in was so easy now that you just go to the property. Saves time and is just simple. The place itself is charming. If you are a hiker this is a fantastic location, so many trails of every level near by. The dog house is wonderful and charming - perfect place for two to get away with privacy. Fireplace and hot tub are well done. If you are not a dog owner, don’t let the name dissuade you, place is clean and the only smell is the hardwood smoke of the fireplace. Kitchen is very well appointed and you can cook anything there as well as a gas grill on the deck. We will return

This house is absolutely amazing. Everything about it. To the way it looks on the outside to every detail inside. It was the coziest house and felt right at home. My husband and I came on our honeymoon and we had plans to do this and that but we relaxed at the house most the time. It felt like home. Everything was super clean and functioning. The hot tub felt so great with the sound of the steam down the way. Comfy couch and great tv and surround sound. The bathroom was perfect and the the bed was so comfortable. The drive to the house is easy to get to and beautiful and so close to Boone and Blowing Rock. This is our second trip to Boone and for our third we might just be back here one day. Love this house so much.

Beautiful even in the rain. The Dog House was a lovely house set right down by Winkler's Creek. We were here during a horrendous rain storm and it was stupendous. The kitchen is nice and bright. The fireplace is really beautiful with the maple mantle. It is conveniently located near town so when it was drizzling we could drive in and enjoy a local brewery. Definitely a spectacular few days and a nice, cozy house to enjoy.

Blue Ridge was great as always, third time renting through them. Stayed at The Dog House, so we were able to bring our Husky with us for her first trip ever. House was very cute and well kept. My wife and I loved the various humorous photos that adorned the house. Weather was bad most of the time, so we just hung out at the house. Great internet there, so that plus some Netflix and we had a nice relaxing time.

I am generally hesitant on renting from rental agencies like this. This is my first time. I found Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals superior in everything related to my rental from timely communications, pleasant staff, convenience, to the property that we rented (The Dog House). The entire process was efficient and flawless. We have two dogs and wanted a place that my wife and I could relax in a cabin setting while having our two dogs with us. The Dog House was absolutely perfect from the quaint and relaxing interior and amenities to the oversize deck (with gates) to the sound of rushing water down by the stream. If I could buy it I would and have Blue Ridge my rental partner. The dogs loved it. It was close to both Blowing Rock and Boone and provided a true mountain cabin experience. My girlfriend and I stayed at the Dog House for our anniversary and enjoyed every second we spent there. The cabin is perfectly cozy and the epitome of mountain cabin getaway. We loved our time there so much that we are planning on making it a yearly trip just so we can recapture our great time there. Everything the Dog House offers is exactly what you would expect of a mountain house; wood fire place, backyard stream, quiet and peaceful surroundings . It has it all!!! I waited two years to book a week at The Dog House. I waited too long last year and missed my opportunity although it was worth the wait. Perfect place from corporate chaos. I truly enjoyed the serenity of the mountains. The rustic charm and artistic decor of The Dog House provide the ideal backdrop for relaxation that was long over due. As other have mentioned, Mr. Cardinal was the perfect alarm clock tapping at the window but I loved waking up in the tree tops.

Loved the serenity of this place! The Surrounds are simply amazing. From the soothing sound of the nearby creek to the sky filled with stars for as far as you can see. This is a special place. We enjoyed hikes in nearby Moses Cone Park with varied paths to wander. Blowing Rock and Boone offered wonderful options for dining. We enjoyed Gideon Ridge and the Bistro including Canyons restaurant. They all we excellent. We can not wait to return!

I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday. We planned on going skiing or snow tubing but Mother Nature had other plans. We got snowed in by winter storm Jonas. It worked out for the best. The Dog House is exactly what we needed to get away. Its is so beautiful and peaceful here! We even connected in a way that was much needed. We will definitely be coming back! Thank you so much.

Just what we were looking for! The Dog House came with everything we needed- even a new coffee maker! The creek, fireplace, and hot tub were just what the doctor ordered for us to get away from the craziness of Thanksgiving back home. Love Boone and Blowing Rock!! We just might have to get a place of our own here but in the meantime, it is The Dog House for us!

What an absolutely gorgeous place! So quiet and peaceful- the perfect getaway for me and my husband before the holidays begin. Boone and Blowing Rock are wonderful places. We discovered local hangouts like the Appalachian Mountain Brewery and Bald Guy Coffee and local trails. Our favorite was Glen Burney as it was so beautiful! We also visited Grandfather Mountain which was a lot of fun and helped us get into the spirit of winter as there was lots of ice at the top of the mile high bridge! Very different from our home in Jacksonville FL! The Dog House is truly amazing and I am sure we will be back again, perhaps with a fur-baby in tow! We loved it here. Truly the perfect escape.

We really enjoyed our stay! So peaceful and quiet here. The hot tub is where we spent the majority of our time. It was so relaxing and with the drop in temperature, it was absolutely heavenly. We highly recommend Appalachian Mountain Brewery for some fantastic pints, too!

What an idyllic setting bringing to mind the likes of Thoreau and Emerson, yet so convenient to everything in town. This place more than deserves all the extra TLC the owner can muster. We found him to be available and responsive to our needs. We truly appreciate his vision in making this place so special.

What a great choice in The Dog House. What a lovely and cozy cabin. My husband and I went here to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. We are typically beach goers but thought we would do something out of the norm. Weather was great as well. Would recommend to others and would book again. Easy to book and get keys. Great customer service, follow up and overall communication.

My wife and I were married on a ship in the Charleston Harbor in SC on October 13th. We spent our honeymoon adventuring along the East Coast. With no destination in mind, we packed for every occasion, jumped in the jeep and drove off into the sunset. OK....the sun had actually gone down by the time we left but in our memories we headed off into the sunset! Both of us being from Charleston, our internal compasses steered us towards the beach for the beginning of our adventure. After finding peace & relaxation in the waves we headed north where we enjoyed fine dining in a small town- and WHOOAAH! By chance there was a cancellation for the Dog House. I secretly reserved two nights and we were east bound for the mountains. Knowing my wife, if she discovered the name of the cabin prior to our arrival, I literally would have been in the Dog House, although if it is as nice as this one I surely would not mind! Thankfully she did not discover the name until I had already picked up the keys and we were halfway there. The funny look and comments were enough to express her doubts. The unmarked pavement and entrance to the road increased her worrisome looks and doubts. THEN WE ARRIVED......To quote her, This place is awesome! And indeed it is. We have never enjoyed a place as much as we enjoyed the Dog House. From the stream with the waterfall, reading by the firepit, roasting marshmallows, snuggling by the firepit, and walking in the woods. And we barely scratched the surface of things to do in the area. Romantic dinners, relaxing hot tub, rain on the skylight, and the serene sounds of the wind through the trees make this a magical place. Our only regret is having to leave. I am sure we will return. This place is too magical and has too much appeal for us not to return. I hope others find their peace and relaxation as we did. These mountains have a kind soul and will take care of you if you are willing to stop and listen.
